Fantastic find! Found it last night on Trip Advisor!

My husband and I visited with our 6 year old boy who had the biggest smile ever that he was going on board a pirate ship! The life size replica of Sir Francis Drakes Golden Hind has five levels to explore - four are different levels on the upper deck and one under the deck. Loads of information to read and a few 20p audio stations. Some dressing up on the main deck as well as some "stocks". Loads of photo opportunities. Lovely shop on board that is reasonably priced with loads of little things for budding pirates! The staff were so friendly and helpful. The Golden Hind has no external funding so the cost of the ticket (£4 adults and £3 kiddies) is a small price to pay and we also put a few coins in their donation pot to keep this fantastic little ship afloat!!

“Interesting and informative”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 18 April 2014

Great opportunity to show the family some interesting history in a hands-on environment. The children really enjoyed hearing the details of life on the ship for the sailors, and the chance to see things up close. The ship is quite small (of course!) and it only takes about 45 minutes to tour around but it was engaging and informative - staff were friendly, and even gave the children a free postcard to take to school after their holidays! A little pricey, but worthwhile and I would recommend it for any family.

“An unexpected find and a brilliant tour”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

Came across the Golden HInd by accident. Decided to go on board and was treated to an excellent hour long tour. The guide was brilliantly entertaining and completely engaging, never seen four year old boys sit so still!.
My daughter 10 and son 14 also loved it, as did we. Really interesting tour and highly recommend.

History by the bucket load. Friendly staff in the shop and suitable for tall and fat people :) Plenty to read and listen to. Very evocative of times gone past.

“Perfect for two young grandsons”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 February 2014 via mobile

Not expensive by today's standards, you can stay on as long as you like, enchanting for my two young grandsons aged 4& 2 who love pirates. More to see than you think as you can go below deck. A great little attraction.
