This is as good as it gets. Great site with brilliant shower blocks. Club house, kids park, views, and heated outdoor pool. Well run with life guards. Off course spending two weeks during the heatwave helps. The views from the dog walking park are something else.

I can see why it gets booked up each summer holidays. Couple of niggles, the little avenues make it very private so your sharing with 3-4 others, its quite undulating so you will need level blocks. You are not allocated a pitch, first come first serve. Pool area is overgrown with weeds, which is a shame. No freezers on site.

Difficult to get to a beach, difficult parking plus charges everywhere, narrow streets.

Staff seemed a little stressed on reception, possibly due to peak season. Otherwise its idyllic.

A really excellent site, very clean with first class facilities. We stayed for 3 weeks and would have liked to have stayed longer. The swimming pool was extremely warm and clean. Despite the site being full, none of the communal areas were overcrowded. If you have a large outfit you may find it difficult navigating around the site as some of the turns can be tight! That aside, this site is a 'gem'. The wardens work their socks off to keep the place neat and tidy, but there is no over-regimentation and they were very helpful and friendly. Buses in Devon can be very expensive (5 minute return trip to/from Dartmouth - 2 adults plus dog £8!!). Don't forget your bus pass (if you have one!), otherwise I strongly suggest you buy a 'Rover' ticket. You will save a fortune after only a few trips!

Couldn't help but notice a previous comment regarding a late arrival and the advice received from the wardens at Hillhead eg 'book into a Premier Inn'. I can only think that Sarah G must have booked a tent pitch! If it had been a caravan I am sure that the lady concerned would have been directed to the caravan late arrivals area until the next morning. If I am right, well done the wardens for suggesting a sensible compromise! Lets face it, the rest of the Caravan Club guests would quickly complain if someone started setting up after the late arrival 2000hrs cut-off time! And quite rightly so!

We have just returned from Hillhead, we had a great 8 days, when we arrived the Wardens were very helpfull and accomodating, we asked for a pitch near to toilets and showers as my wife has knee problems. They gave us a choice of 3 pitches, we weren't disappointed at the one we chose ample room for van and porch awning and vehicle and near to showers and toilets. This site is imaculate, toilets spotless, hot and plentyfull water for showers, well kept grounds, ample shop with fresh bread every morning. We didn't use the swiming pool but others said it was great, evening entertainment every night but never noisy and good food in the resturant . The wifi was slow but did use it, the only small issue was that when one toilet / shower block is closed for cleaning better directions would be usefull to find the other block !! No need to use your vehicle whilst there as there is a good bus service to Brixham and Kingsmear and further if needed, bus stop right outside the camp, would definatley recommend.

Room Tip: A large site but didn't feel it, well done caravan club.

I have been a member, with my wife, of the caravan club for almost 25 years and can honestly say the welcome we had was the best ever at time of arrival and we have been to many sites throughout the UK. The site is very busy being mid June without any children 'running' around which is 'bliss', the weather as I write is glorious with great views out to Torbay and beyond, the pitches are in great shape with many divided individually with hedging giving a very private aspect. The facilities, as is with any caravan club site, are very clean and well managed with more than the usual individual shower cubicles located in two blocks.
Overall this is a very nice site!.

My wife and I joined the caravan club and booked to stay at Hill Head from Friday 6 - 8 June.
We arrived and were given a choice of pitches. When checking in we asked if we could possibly stay an extra day and depart on 9th June, this was possible and we said we would advise them accordingly. The other option was could be check out a bit later on Suncay 8th June, we were told that if they were not busy, then we could check out at 2pm.
To our surprise we were told on Sunday morning that this was not possible, and that if we wanted to stay until 2pm we would have to move to the late arrivals field. Needless to say we could not be bothered to do this and left dissapointed just before 12 o clock. We will not go back again and will inform our friends accordingly. What a shame that people cannot do what they promise! There are many other very acceptable sites nearby which will get our business in the future

Room Tip: Try somewhere else!

We stayed here for 3 nights in May and I can honestly say I could not find fault with anything. We are not members of the Caravan Club but were made to feel very welcome on arrival and given the opportunity to choose our pitch! The tent pitches overlook the sea, they are seperated by small hedges and have plenty of room for car and tent.
The site facilities include:
Toilet and shower blocks which were immaculate and there was always plenty of hot water
Laundry room with washing machines and tumble driers
Play area's, games field and recreation field
Swimming pools (end of May until mid September)
Nico's restaurant and bar with evening entertainment, bingo, quiz's etc
On site shop selling bread, milk, groceries, caravan & camping accessories
Seperate dog walking field
The town of Brixham is a short drive or bus journey away and there are lots of coffee shops and restaurants there around the harbour.
I will recommend this site and if we are in the area again we will stay here.

Having enjoyed caravanning for 35 years we have visited many touring sites in the UK and abroad including this site on several occasions. Hillhead Caravan Club Site as you would expect from any Caravan Club site has excellent, clean and modern facilities and is one of few CC sites with a well stocked shop, clubhouse & restaurant. Ideally situated for visiting the attractions of Torbay by car or if you have a motorhome by bus (the stop is immediately outside the site). This site is well run and maintained by a team of friendly and helpful wardens and in our opinion is one of the best on the network. Due to it's facilities and location it is a busy site so advanced booking is advised especially during school holidays. Well worth a visit.

Room Tip: You take your own room so pitch where you fancy.
