“Great hotel in fab location”
Reviewed 17 April 2013

Really enjoyed our stay at this fab hotel. The location is great and we visited some lovely coves and beaches during our stay. I recommend the monkfish curry in the quayside restaurant as it was delightful, the room was clean and nicely decorated with a sea view, staff were really friendly. Would come back again!

Stayed at this lovely hotel for a few nights over Easter. Great location, lovely staff and wonderful food; especially the sea bass. The room was very comfortable and had all you would need for a weekend away. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel looked perfect on the internet but when we arrived we realised it was nothing like the internet at all, our room was tiny, we couldnt even open the drawers fully as the radiator blocked them so had very little storage space that we could actually use, the carpet was loose and dirty, we asked for a smoking room but didnt get one, the car park is up a hill and to far away, we had moldy tomatoes with our breakfast so didnt bother going again on the secind morning, the food is very expensive nearly £50 for a fish platter, got told to leave the hotel bar at midnight and go to our room.. Would not stay again, to pricey and dirty, shame...

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The Quayside is a converted cottage hotel dating back to the 18th century. The rooms are all different shapes and sizes. For most, this is part of the charm of the Hotel. Although the current trend is for Hotels to be totally non-smoking we do have a small number of smoking rooms (with access to external balconies) They are limited and are not guaranteed unless confirmed. The Hotel is on the harbour side where there is no available parking; however we are fortunate in Brixham to have our own private car park that is within a short walk from the Hotel. If you were not happy with your breakfast our staff would have been happy to replace it. The fish platter is £45 for two persons including salad and fries and consists of Lobster, Crab Claws, Langoustines, King Prawns & Oysters on a bed of ice. We believe this is a very competitive price.

we paid £104 for one nights stay b&b,the room was tiny and the bathroom filthy.the staff were very nice but if that wasn't the case I am sure the place would be empty.breakfast was greasy, cheap products & ingrediants used, I always clear a full english and then I am on to my partners but not at this at this hotel
This is a £60 per night b&b not a £100 night hote l!!!!!!!

Room Tip: go to another place

We are very concerned at the comments you have made – bathroom filthy, greasy cheap ingredients at breakfast. We have a compliment of trained housekeepers who take pride in their work and whilst there may occasionally be small oversights your experience is obviously exceptional. Our food ingredients are of the best quality and again there must have been a specific issue that resulted in your experience that we need to identify. As you did not report these failings to our staff at the time and did not complete one of the hotels in house guest questionnaires we are unable to investigate further. We would therefore appreciate you letting us know when you stayed and in what room.

We are sorry that you did not enjoy your stay, last September. Our breakfasts are very comprehensive and we are surprised that you felt otherwise. The normal restaurant layout can seat around 80% of a full hotel. Unless all guests arrive for breakfast at the same time this is more than adequate, otherwise there may be a short wait in the lounge. We have found this to be the case in many hotels including 4/5 star.

We stayed in this hotel for one night. The staff were friendly and helpful. The bedroom was small, but clean . The bathroom was larger than average. The eve meal was excellent -a fantastic choice. Superb for fish eaters. The morning breakfast was good too. I would stay here again. Only downside was car park was a long way from hotel(350 yards). Ok as long as it was not raining.
Some bedrooms had good views over quayside.

Room Tip: Drop off luggage before parking the car.
