“A great birthday weekend”
Reviewed 24 May 2013

This was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed in at a costal resort in a long time. My wife book a weekend as a surprise for my 45 birthday, the room was very tidy and staff really helpful. Though there is no parking at the hotel, they have some close by and this is identified on the web site so the person that made a complaint about his should of perhaps read this before making the booking. The best part of the weekend was the food, truly wonderful, tasty, cooked to perfection, and served with a smile. The dining room staff were also wonderful and very polite.
Our room had a sea view so great to wake up and see the harbour with the sun coming up. The room was also clean and nicely appointed.
Also of note was the bar, we had a great evening listening to a local group, great songs and they got us all going till late.
Will we go again, hell yes, never eaten so much sea food in 2 days.

Room Tip: Try to book one of their special offers with DB&B

We have just returned from a two night stay at the quayside hotel and boy was it great to get back into our own bed!! The hotel is quirky with corridors and steps everywhere, the rooms are quite small but with lovely views over the quay and town from the front. The staff are friendly and efficient but quite thin on the ground! We only had breakfast in the hotel and this was hot , well cooked and plentiful. The hotel is in urgent need of refurbishment, our room was quite depressing, dull wall coverings, grubby carpet,mis-matched furniture and pillows that need throwing away. The cost of the rooms is excessive for the quality of accommodation. We enjoyed our stay in Brixham but will probably stay somewhere else if we return.

Room Tip: Sea views are lovely from all floors but there is no lift and narrow, steep and twisting stairs. One o...

Have just booked a stay at the quayside again, I think it is a fab hotel with a fabulous restaurant. The only drawback is that it does not have a lift, but this is by far outweighed by the friendliness of all the staff, The rooms are very clean and tidy the rstaurant and food are superb. I can't wait. David.

Room Tip: overlooking the harbour

We have just had the best weekend at the Quayside Hotel in Brixham. A lovely old hotel. Room was big and the bed was great. Tea and coffee in the room. On suite, with a bathe and shower. The breakfast was really good, lots of it and really hot when it arrived. You can also have an evening meal at the hotel, lovely food. The staff was very friendly and helpful. You keep your key and that is the key to the font door if you come back after it has closed. The location is wonderful, you look out towards the harbour at Brixham. The hotel has everything you need to have a lovely stay in Brixham. I would really recommend this hotel.

Room Tip: Pay an extra £20 and have a view out towards the harbour. The best ever view. It is beautiful.

Really enjoyed our stay at this fab hotel. The location is great and we visited some lovely coves and beaches during our stay. I recommend the monkfish curry in the quayside restaurant as it was delightful, the room was clean and nicely decorated with a sea view, staff were really friendly. Would come back again!

Stayed at this lovely hotel for a few nights over Easter. Great location, lovely staff and wonderful food; especially the sea bass. The room was very comfortable and had all you would need for a weekend away. Would definitely stay here again.

This hotel looked perfect on the internet but when we arrived we realised it was nothing like the internet at all, our room was tiny, we couldnt even open the drawers fully as the radiator blocked them so had very little storage space that we could actually use, the carpet was loose and dirty, we asked for a smoking room but didnt get one, the car park is up a hill and to far away, we had moldy tomatoes with our breakfast so didnt bother going again on the secind morning, the food is very expensive nearly £50 for a fish platter, got told to leave the hotel bar at midnight and go to our room.. Would not stay again, to pricey and dirty, shame...

We are sorry you did not enjoy your stay. The Quayside is a converted cottage hotel dating back to the 18th century. The rooms are all different shapes and sizes. For most, this is part of the charm of the Hotel. Although the current trend is for Hotels to be totally non-smoking we do have a small number of smoking rooms (with access to external balconies) They are limited and are not guaranteed unless confirmed. The Hotel is on the harbour side where there is no available parking; however we are fortunate in Brixham to have our own private car park that is within a short walk from the Hotel. If you were not happy with your breakfast our staff would have been happy to replace it. The fish platter is £45 for two persons including salad and fries and consists of Lobster, Crab Claws, Langoustines, King Prawns & Oysters on a bed of ice. We believe this is a very competitive price.
