Just spent a wonderful 2 nights at the quayside hotel.View from room 9 was beyond my expectations. Yes the decor in the room is dated but it's clean, the breakfast was lovely and the staff very welcoming. Live music in the bar was the perfect end to a great Friday. Have previously stayed at Churston Court but will be swopping to the Quayside from now on, highly recommended!

Room Tip: Room 9 has the most fantastic view and a large sash window which you can open and watch the world (h...

Well - 4.5 actually. Have just returned from a lovely weekend on an excellent Travelzoo offer. The hotel were kind enough to give us a good rate on the second night too. If you are interested, visit the special offers on their website as it says they "guarantee that the lowest rates are always available directly through us". (There is a special offer on at the moment which ends on May 22nd 2014.)

The hotel is quaint and quirky, constructed from six old cottages: hence there are no lifts and lots of stairs and narrow passages, fine if you are mobile! The room we were given (42 - at the top and the back of the property) didn't have a view, but that was fine with us as we only use a room to sleep and dress in. If you pay more, there are rooms with views out over the harbour, some with balconies as you can see from the photo, some with four-poster beds! The room was clean, warm, smallish but adequate for our needs, with a hospitality tray (no biscuits!) and TV with text. The bed was a little uncomfortable (hence 4.5 stars).

Another reason for the 4.5 stars is the location of the hotel car park (nothing the management can do about this, unfortunately) which is at least 300m up a steep hill from the hotel. The good thing is that you can park outside for loading and unloading luggage, etc. and it is available all day on your day of departure (they will also store your luggage securely) NB the hotel is on a hill 100m up from the town.

The food was excellent: great choice both for dinner and breakfast (the fish freshly caught by the Brixham trawlers in the harbour below), delicious, plentiful and beautifully presented. All the staff were friendly, attentive and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. There is a small bar and lounge for a pre-dinner apéritifs, and next door is attached the Ernie Lister Bar with live entertainment on Sunday evenings (and some Thursdays, I believe - check website) Claim to fame: Heston Blumenthal and his film crew stayed in the hotel whilst filming in Brixham, and it was recently visited by HRH Prince Charles!

Do wander round the town and harbour area, full of history and quaint corners. We'll be back soon.

Being in Brixam for an event we decided to stay at the Quayside Hotel, standing in a prime location on the side of the hill overlooking the inner harbour it must be a treasure of old Brixham.

A querky place of narrow passages and stairs it has plenty of different room types to suit all requirements ... our room was on the front overlooking the old fish quay and inner harbour which is still a working harbour and has much to offer, beyond in the distance is the old church which plays the ancient sailors hymn at times.

The room itself was smallish, with nice en suite shower, which was perfectly suitable for our stay being clean and comfortable and well appointed. The dining room which had a greater air of sophistication boasted (and got) a comprehensive menu of local fish and other choices to accommodate all tastes and requirements ... all courses were presented at a Haute Cuisine standard and complimented by a varied and not over priced wine list. There is adjoining a cosy bar and lounge to enjory a pre dinner aperitif all well served by enthusiastic and helpful staff.

The morning is best served by a stroll to the newsagents for a paper before returning to enjoy what is probably the best breakfast you will have anywhere. .... Now a Premier Inn this "aint" so if a choice is for this then persons should go there .... others who seek and appreciate finer things will be here and almost certainly vow to return.

An excellent and good value hotel to try.

Room Tip: Try for a front room for the views

This hotel did exactly what it said on the tin.
It was a great base for our weekend break in Brixham. The staff were lovely.
The rooms were very old fashioned (see photo) and we found some rubbish left behind by a previous guest (hence my Average rating for Cleanliness). The shower was designed by Warwick Davis (see photo) but this just added to the quaintness.
We had a meal which was thoroughly enjoyable, I ordered the steak and wasn't sure if it would be as good as the fish but it was!
The atmosphere was great. We also went to the attached bar (Ernie Listers) and had a great night. Drew Millen was performing with full audience participation, the band played the guitars and the audience all had pieces of percussion.
I would recommend this hotel!

We booked a night in this hotel through a Travelzoo deal and the hotel were very accommodating in offering a second night stay at a good rate. The location of this hotel is lovely overlooking the harbour and lots within walking distance. The rooms were very small but to be expected from a quaint harbourside hotel although the room could have done with a lick of paint and a little updating. The food, particularly the dinner included in the deal, was excellent and could not be faulted. Staff all very friendly and helpful. Would definitely stay again when visiting Brixham.

Booked direct with hotel after looking at reports on trip advisor. Chose a superior room with balcony, sea-view and four poster bed. Lovely room, perfect view of Brixham harbour, and Torquay, could even see the big wheel. Complimentary robes included. Breakfast, choice of several options for hot food, as well as cereals, window table with harbour views. Car parking up the road, which is available all day on check out day. Luggage securely stored aswell. Perfect. Would definitely recommend a sea-view, room 15 .

Room Tip: Request room options with sea view, definitely worth it

We visited this hotel for a one night stay bed breakfast and evening meal, it was fantastic our room was quaint but very clean and comfortable and the bathroom was very good. Although we had an inside room we had a little patio. It would have been easy to spend a week there.
The food was first class both breakfast and the evening meal, and all the staff were very pleasant, helpful and friendly. We went to the bar next door after our meal and had a very good evening with music that was both fun and entertaining. We will certainly will be returning , thank you everyone we had a ball. Pauline, Kate, Chris and Tracy.

Room Tip: From what I could see they were all good, but No one was good
