“Best Prawn Cocktail in Brixham...”
Reviewed 9 April 2013

It was good to return to The Quayside Hotel Restaurant and enjoy dinner. The menu still offers a good choice of starters and the Prawn Cocktail is one of the best with its bonus of smoked salmon. Likewise the Gravalax is full of flavour and ideal before the main course. The homemade breads are very popular with diners and the tomato bread delicious.
Fish is always top of the list at The Quayside and our whole Black Bream and whole Lemon Sole were excellent.
There is a good choice of desserts and we had the ice cream/sorbet selection and finished off the meal with a cafetiere of coffee.
The wine list offers a good selection and it was easy to select a bottle of Merlot that was full of sunshine flavours.
Our waitress was very good and we found that the evening moved along at just the right pace. Our window table provided a view across the harbour with all its lluminated frontages.

“A great menu consistantly good”
Reviewed 27 March 2013

More formal than the attached Ernie Lister Bar, a great new menu speciallising in (but not exclusively) fish. The Quayside has a great Head Chef and would recommend a visit.

“A great place for fresh fish”
Reviewed 10 March 2013

Tried this as part of a two day stay, brilliant fresh fish choices and well cooked/presented by very attentive staff. Will certainly go back to try the seafood platter, which has to be ordered before 11.00 on the day you want to eat, its really that fresh!!!

“Smartest spot in town?”
Reviewed 29 January 2013 via mobile

Excellent and fairly sensibly priced cooking with friendly staff (though note that the adjoining bar does really good 'bar snacks' from the same chef and kitchen... and in slightly less formal surroundings.)

I always think it a pity that the hotel - split over three buildings - is all painted the same shade, giving a rather monolithic feel in a town where the joy of the landscape is all the different sizes and colours.
