“A proper tea room with mismatched crocks...”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 14 August 2010

A proper tea room with mismatched crocks and a great atmosphere. The guys who run the place are attentive and have good humour in abundance. Loved it. Cassie the Staffordshire bull terrier is gentle and good for a fuss by the kids too.

“A home from home-Grandma's front room”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 June 2010

To rest your tired feet from roaming the numerous antique and bric a brac shops (about 10!) in Ashburton, delight in this quaint and homely teashop run by two very friendly and relaxed hosts.
There are always stories to hear and locals to meet, the soups are especailly good as is the very english lunch dishes like corned beef hash and toad in the hole.
Homemade cakes abound, and cream teas are the best when the scones have come straight out of the oven. Everything is carefully presented with a cornucopia of china, candelabra and local painted landscapes on the walls.
Here you will get an authentic feel for the area and the people, and if you ask very nice they may even make you a crepe.

“This is exactly how a teashop should be.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 January 2010

This place is a classic English Teashop There was a choice of over 50 types of loose tea, served in china teapots. As you pour your tea, you use a strainer to remove the leaves, just as my gran did years ago, brings back some happy memories.

There was a lunch menu and light snacks, which I didn't try, but it appeared home made and local, a bit like the clientele. I opted for one of the cakes which, I have to admit, was pretty amazing. The ambience is perfect, relaxed with old world charm.

The guys that run this place were really accomodating and friendly, I'll definitely be back to sample some more of this place's hospitality, tea and food.

Quaint, quaint, quaint, what can I say? This place is a time warp and the owners are wonderful hosts. The food is lovely and great value for money.
Words cannot describe this cafe - just go, and you will see what I mean!

“Great Little Place, Friendly Owner, and Traditional English Tea”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 February 2009

We have been to Ashburton many time, we live in Northern Ireland, but have friends who live there, but have missed this wee Gem.

The Studio Teashop is located at the Car Park in the town centre, next door to the Book Store.

The place is cosy, quaint, and filled with bits and bobs. They do a really lovely cream tea beautifully presented on cake stands, with China Cups, Saucers etc.

Seems very busy and popular with the locals, who come in for a chat and Tea and a slice of home made cake (and theres plenty to choose from!).

If you are a Tea lover, they get their Standard Tea specially Blended, then they have at least 20 more Teas to choose from.

On top of that they have some specials, and lite bites for lunch too.

Epitomises the Old English Teashop......thanks for traeting us welll guys.

We look forward to calling in again when we're over again in June.

:-)
