We had the good fortune to stay with Julia and Clive on June 6th and 7th 2014. The 4 of us really enjoyed being guests in this quirky, wonderful old building in the heart of Ashburton and next to one of Englands most beautiful churches. The rooms were spacious and more than adequate, and excellent value, the breakfast first class, and our hosts really could not have been kinder and more helpful. Although on site parking is not available, the public car park is only yards away, safe and cheap. We shall certainly be staying here again when next in Devon. Thankyou Julia and Clive.
Can't recommend Old Coffee House enough. Stuart & Djurdja Robinson (Spain) and Zeljko & Nikola Ivancic (Croatia)

I stayed at this lovely old property overnight as a friend was having a party at the other end of town. Everywhere is spotlessly clean, the rooms are really spacious and airy and the breakfast in the morning really hits the spot. The most important thing though are the hosts who are a lovely welcoming couple. I would not hesitate to recommend The Old Coffee House to anyone lucky enough to be coming to Ashburton!

We came to ashburton for a friends wedding and needed somewhere to stay for 2 nights! The welcome was lovely and they answered all our questions about the area! They were extremely helpful and gave us taxi numbers and directions around the town. The rooms are excellent quality for the price we paid and the breakfast was delicious. Extremely lovely B and B run by equally as lovely people! I will definitely be coming back.

I recently stayed at The Old Coffee House while attending a week long course at the Ashburton Cookery School.

The school had recommended a few locations and the first one I tried was full, however, they then put me in touch with Julia and Clive at The Old Coffee House, and I couldn't have been happier with the result.

The B&B is located in the middle of Ashburton and is about a 10 minute walk from the cookery school.

Julia and Clive are the friendliest hosts you could wish for and the rooms are spotless and comfortable. With a choice of breakfast available in the morning too, it really was everything I needed for the week - as well as being across the road from a fantastic little pub, The Exeter Inn, for post-school drinks!

I know that I will definitely be staying there again, when I next return to Ashburton - which I hope will be soon!

If you want a nice relaxing week-end break or even a week on the edge of the moors but within easy reach of the sea the little town of Ashburton makes a great base and The Old Coffee House is a refreshingly resonably priced B & B with clean comfortable rooms , generous breakfasts and vey friendly hosts in the persons of Clive and Julia.

Its situated in the High Street next to the church and a public car park is available through an archway on the opposite side of the road immediately behind an ancient public house where apparently Sir Walter Raleigh was once a frequent customer and judging by the beer they serve one can understand why!

The Old Coffee House is itself an ancient building and the bedrooms are acessed by a narrow stairway with breakfast taken in the coffee shop on a fairly flexible timetable.Other meals can be taken at a variety of pubs teashops and restaurants in and around Ashburton which also boasts quite a number of antique shops a small museum and a nationally famous cookery school

The twin bedroom we had was quite large and the beds comfortable. Two armchairs a good sized wardrobe and plenty of drawer space were complemented by a wall mounted flat screen T.V. and tea manking facilities. The en-suite shower room was well appointed and came with crisp towels and even limited supply of toiletries.

Ashburton is five minutes off the main A38 to Plymouth but seems worlds away. Nearby attractions are Dartmoor,, pretty Totness,Buckfastleigh with its abbey, butterfly centre and
steam railway terminus with Torquay, Brixham , Dartmouth and the South Hams relatively
close by.

A real alternative to paying much higher prices at better known and more commercial destinations and much more relaxing.

.

Room Tip: We had a twin on the top floor overlooking the main street.

We had a lovely stay in The Old Coffee House
Our room overlooked the street but wasn`t too noisy as the traffic calms down in the evening.
We had a nice breakfast in the morning and our hosts were friendly.

I stayed at The Old Coffee House for a week in March. I was on a week long course at the nearby Ashburton Cookery School. Julia & Clive were very friendly and accommodating, the room was clean & spacious and nothing was too much trouble for them. I highly recommend The Old Coffee House, I will definately stay there again when I do any further courses at Ashburton Cookery School.
