Excellent customer service and really friendly staff. The Motel signs from the A38 and the 2 crown sign on the door make you nervous when first arriving but this hotel is much better than that and good value for being on the edge of the National Park. Food is very good using local produce where possible. Friday night was carvery night which had great choice and was excellent value at £8.95.

We visited the hotel on a Groupon deal. I am of the opinion that you normally get what you pay for so was expecting a fairly standard room with hopefully fairly decent food so we didn't have to go out in the evening. However, our expectations were definitely exceeded. Despite the fact we brought our dog with us, we were put in a lovely room - very clean, large and airy with a fabulous view over the countryside. The bed was huge and really comfortable and the room had all the facilities we would need for a stay away from home. The food was great quality, generous portions served by friendly staff. We were so impressed by the food that we returned to the Lodge between walks to have lunch as we knew it would be good. The owners have obviously worked hard to renovate this building from what sounded like a rundown building. It is a perfect place to stay - close to the A38 but feels like it is in the middle of nowhere. We would definitely return and recommend it to anyone.

We have just returned from my sons wedding at this hotel, we stayed for 4 nights this hotel is not in your 5 star catagory to me its better, Not for the bricks and mortar but because of the owners Trevor and Diane and the staff, the attention to detail, the food was exceptional, the friendlyness of the staff was excellent, if you live in Devon or surrounding area get down to this hotel and book your wedding venue here quick this hotel is going places, you will have people talking about your wedding for years to come. Our family and there friends took up all the rooms in the hotel and the service from the staff was that nothing was to much trouble for them. Even if you are driving past call in and sample there food, or try there Sunday buffet but make sure you book that is very popular. Once again thank you to Trev & Diane and all the staff.

We stayed at the Dartmoor Lodge over a week-end with a wine tasting experience on the Saturday evening. The staff at this hotel were very helpful and focussed on ensuring their customers have a great experience. There was a wide choice of excellent quality food on the menu both for breakfast and the evening meal. The rooms were clean and tidy, reflecting the general decor of the building. This hotel is ideally situated as a base to visit the stunning Dartmoor countryside and within easy reach of the coast. In summary this was a very enjoyable stay and we would recommend this hotel to others wanting to stay in this area.

Room Tip: The four-poster room is fantastic

A friend and I took a 2 nigh stay at Dartmoor Lodge last week and we could have happily stayed longer, the staff were wonderful. They even retrieved an earring I dropped down the sink, which was kind of above and beyond the call of duty.

We ate breakfasts and lunches in the hotel, both of which were excellent, with the dinners very reasonably priced. Breakfast was self-serve with cooked items for a full English and a cereal and fruits bar. The Sunday Carvery was immense.

All the staff were extremely helpful in sorting out our moorland itinerary (reception staff, bar staff and one of the chefs chipped in) and they referred us to an excellent taxi service, where the driver, Pete, dropped and collected us at points around Dartmoor for brilliant hikes.

The rooms were very clean and well furbished. We would very happily go back there, though preferably with a car the next time for easier access to the key points of Dartmoor.

We stayed at the Dartmoor Lodge for two nights this week. We thorougly enjoyed our stay. The food (too much for my wife!!) was excellent and the staff were all very friendly and yet efficient. The bedroom was very good as was the bar with four real ales, three of which were from local breweries.

We stayed at the Dartmoor Lodge for two nights on a Groupon deal. We had a great time there. The hotel was clean, staff was friendly and the location was very good. We had breakfast and dinner there for the two days. Breakfast was very good, with a choice of English Breakfast, cereal, yogurt and etc. and dinner was very good with good size portions and good service as well. Internet is available at the bar, which is very comfy and nice.
