“Cannot recommend highly enough!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2013

We visited for a weekend late last year and stayed in their family room. The room was ideal for us (the children LOVED their beds) and Gages Mill was just the type of warm and friendly guesthouse we had been looking for, and the delicious hearty breakfasts were the cherry on top!

Kate and Nathan have obviously thought carefully about their guests needs and we were made to feel very welcome. We cannot recommend Gages Mill highly enough - would love to stay there again on our next visit to the area.

We stayed for a night en route to Cornwall. Beautiful surroundings, friendly hosts, very comfortable beds, spotless bathrooms and a great breakfast. What more could you ask? We enjoyed our stay and would recommend.

Hi Travelswithmyboys. Many thanks for taking the time to leave us this postive feedback. Nathan and I are really pleased that you enjoyed your stay with us. Looking at your other reviews it appears you had a great time in Cornwall at the Lost Gardens of Heligan and The Eden Project - a day trip that we have ourselves greatly enjoyed in the past! Would be great to see you again sometime. Kindest regards Kate, Nathan, Chloe & Max.

We stayed 2 nights in October with Dartmoor doing its foggy worst, but Gages Mill was an oasis of warmth and friendliness. A lovely, ancient and atmospheric building in peaceful surroundings, but with all mod-cons -- clean and warm throughout. It is more than a building, though, it's a home where Kate and Nathan -- and the children -- make you feel very welcome. And what a breakfast! The huge garden must be beautiful in the spring and summer, which is when we plan to return -- and we'll certainly recommend Gages Mill to friends and relatives.

We stayed for one night on route from Cornwall.
On the plus side: Beautiful location; bar/restaurant only 2 minute walk away; lovely breakfast - full English and lovely fresh berries; cosy fire in the guest lounge; lots of information and magazines; nice bathroom; clean.
However, the welcome felt a bit hurried and the house felt like a family home, which for many people may be fine however it left us feeling as though we were intruding and could not fully relax.

Hi Michelle. Many thanks for taking the time to write your review for Gages Mill. Kate and I are really pleased that you enjoyed the location, breakfast and guest lounge etc. We are, of course, sorry that you felt you were not able to fully relax. Gages Mill is a family home and a guest house and, as you say, the majority of people who stay with us cherish this as an enjoyable aspect of their stay. I can assure you that you, as with all of our guests, were very welcome visitors with whom we enjoyed sharing Gages Mill. Kindest regards Kate and Nathan.

Gages Mill is set just outside Ashburton & is a lovely, warm B&B. The host Kate is a warm & welcoming host.
The building is in large spacious gardens.
The rooms are clean & comfortable and the breakfast very good. There was a large bowl of strawberries & raspberries which we really enjoyed.
It is about a short (15 min) walk to Ashburton & we had a nice meal at the Royal Oak pub.

Room Tip: We only stayed in one room which as I have said it was very clean and the bed was nice & big. We...

Whilst we only stayed for one night we wished we could have stayed for more. Great location for access to Dartmoor and within walking distance of Ashburton itself. Superb hosts offering a warm welcome to their fabulous mill set in beautiful gardens. Clean and well presented and a very comfortable bed. A very enjoyable breakfast of fresh local fruit followed by scrambled eggs and salmon set us up for the day. It really is a great place to be based. Kate & Nathan - we shall be back.........

What a delight Gages Mill is! We spent six nights there and were very pleased to find such a lovely place. Kate and Nathan are very warm and welcoming and willingly offered advice on enjoying the area. In the middle of the country yet very close to Ashburton and the motorway, it offers views of green fields and sheep as well as many birds that come to Kate's feeders. Gages Mill is spotlessly clean and Kate's breakfasts are lovely. We will be very pleased to come back.

Hi guys. It's really kind of you to have taken the time to write this lovely feedback. It was a pleasure having you with us and your story, catching up with a long lost relative in Ashburton, was a lovely one to be involved with. My apologies for taking so long to send this 'thank you' note - it's all been pretty busy, not that that is a good enough excuse. It would be lovely to see you back here in the future. We're closed at the moment, until start March 2013, so it's all wall papering, painting and routine maintenance at the moment! Hope you had a great Christmas and we wish you a fantastic 2013. Kindest regards, Kate and Nathan.
