Really a great place to be. We stayed with a party of five in 3 rooms and had a wonderful time. The garden is full of birds, the building is very old & characteristic but the facilities are good enough for a very pleasant stay. Good value. The staff is very friendly, helpfull and serve Full English Breakfast (lighter versions are also available). If you're into handmade bracelets, you have to be here (ask the staff). The location between mainroads is excellent (no noise !), the pittoresk small town of Ashburton (15 minute-walk) and the must-see Dartmoor National Park are close by. If you like the countryside-feeling, don't hesitate & book this one ! We WILL come back someday.

Room Tip: The double beds are not very big and we are not really small persons. So during the night we often m...

Nathan and I are really pleased that you all enjoyed your stay and it would certainly be nice to see you back sometime in the future. For the benefit of readers - our beds are all standard doubles, except for the twin room which has two standard single beds. Kindest regards, Kate and Nathan. (p.s. glad you liked the beer - and bracelets!).

Easy online booking. Upon arival i received a very friendly welcome, And was shown to a Large room and offered fresh milk for my coffee.
The mill is beautiful and has a gorgeous garden, the whole place is spotlessly clean, the ensuite a good size although the shower could be too small for some. There was a Good selection of teas, coffee & hot chocolate in the room.
Very comfortable bed & good storage.
Breakfast was lovely, choice of cereals, fruit, yogurts followed by full English with two good size sausages
Plenty of coffee offered plus juice & toast
The location is very convenient, a 2 minute walk to a pub with excellent food, a 5 minute drive into town. Ashburton is a beautiful town with interesting shops that I wish I'd had more time to look around.
The mill is run by such a Lovely family, I would love to return.

Having stayed at Gages Mill for four night, and never having stayed in a B&B before, we were delighted with all aspects of our time there.
Kate an Nathan, greeted us on arrival with great enthusiasm, and we felt very much at home. Nathan covered every detail we needed to know about our stay, and we think a lot of the expensive Hotel accommodation needs to take a leaf out of their book, but as business owners ourselves if you do the job yourself you know its done right.
The location is really superb, literally a minute or two away from Ashburton, Dartmoor, M5, and easy access to Torquay, Buckfast Abbey, Buckfastleigh Steam railway, Bovey Tracey and all the wonderful sights South Devon has to offer. You feel like you could be in the wilds of Dartmoor yet everythings on your doorstep.
Kate and Nathan keep the place immaculate, and its really homely, comfortable, and peaceful.
Waking up to the sounds of the sheep in the fields, and the views is wonderful too. The Mill is a beautiful building, with a wonderful and fascinating history and you can tell really loved.
Breakfast is very professional, delicious (using local ingredients), and relaxed.
In the bathroom are quality toiletries, and in the room quality tea making facilities (inc a selection of teas, coffee, and hot chocolate as well as quality cookies and biscuits) with the offer of fresh milk for tea. There is also a lot of local information available in the room and lounge / dining room.
There is absolutely nothing to criticise! 100% to Kate and Nathan.

PS - Ive noticed here and on their booking website a few criticisms which I would like to address on their behalf:
This is a 500 year old Mill building without mains water supply, so therefore the owners have had to be creative to provide the superb quality of en-suite facilities, this includes the use of their own water treatment system, saniflow systems in some rooms, and electric showers, the saniflow systems do make a sound, but its minimal and last no more than 1-2 seconds. In no way does it warrant criticism, in fact should be applauded for the efforts made.
The location on our visit was totally quiet, we had our window open throughout our stay as it was warm weather, and we heard no noises, well except for the sheep, and thats why you'd want to stay here in the first place...to be in the countryside. These folks really want you to enjoy your stay, and would do their best to make that the case. Excellent parking facilities too.
Keep up the good work, and we've already booked to come back!!

Room Tip: Our room '6' was beautiful, obviously recently decorated, and immaculate. From the photos al...

Hi Zaria123. Firstly, my apologies for not haven written this thank you note sooner. Secondly, many thanks for having taken the time to write your lovely review of your stay with us at Gages Mill. I recall that we were lucky to have you visit a couple of times last year and we enjoyed having you here - you were both really happy positive people. It's really kind of you to have written such a comprehensive review - I recall that you ran your own small business so we were all very aware of the hard work that goes into it. We hope you are happy and well and to perhaps see you at Gages Mill again one day. Kindest regards, Nathan and Kate.

We stayed in July and had two rooms between us. Both rooms were very nicely decorated and comfortable with ensuite bathrooms. We were very impressed by the standard of Kates's cleaning, everything gleamed. We also that the range of teas and coffees, biscuits and toiletries provided were of a very high standard. It is the extra touches like that that make the difference I think and make your stay more comfortable. Breakfast was super and the organisation and way it is set up is smooth so you have coffee and drinks pretty rapidly. Great location, lovely gardens to walk in, great owners, very nice place to stay and I recommend it.

While taking a break from a house move, every aspect of my recent stay at Gages Mill with a friend was perfect. The friendliness of Kate and Nathan, the high standard of the bedroom/ guest areas and the delicious breakfast! Even though I am due to move to the area in the very near future I only wish I could have stayed longer! Thank you to Kate and Nathan for their hard work in creating a truly exceptional experience while staying at Gages Mill. David B
