We spent 3 lovely relaxing days at Gages Mill - a delightful B&B with beautiful views all around. The hosts Nathan & Kate were very friendly and helpful. The service was excellent as was the hearty breakfast. We will return sometime soon.
The B&B was a very short drive from the village of Ashburton with it's wonderful array of shops and quaint pubs. Our favourite eating place was the Moorish Restaurant. The fish deli and artisan bakery are definitely worth a visit.
We visited a few National Trust properties namely Saltram & Coleton Fishacre however there are several more within a 30 minute drive. A must spot for National Trust members!!

We stayed at Gages Mill over the Easter weekend, recommended by the wedding party - not expecting much we where very pleasantly surprised by this quaint little B&B with panoramic views of surrounding Asburton.

We were a party of 7 - 3 couples and our 2 year old. The host (Nathan and Kate) were very accommodating, changing our room around to make space for his travel bed. (This was much appreciated).

The room was nicely decorated, clean and spacious with all the usually mod con and we had two pleasant night sleep. The breakfast was served in the down stair living room - and full English were the order of the day for all - sausages were delicious, supplied by the local butcher - a local delicacy.

A nice surprise was the host have young family and this was definitely a plus for us, as our son made a b-line for the toy box. Entertainment was sorted for the weekend.

All in all we had a nice and relaxing stay and our group had a fantastic time at the wedding knowing we did not have to far to go from Lavender house.

I would recommend Gages Mill to all as they are very gracious and accommodating to all. Thanks alot and see you on our next trip.

Great place, great hosts and excellent breakfast (sausages to die for)!

OK, it's not all perfect, but excellent value for money in relaxed surroundings.

We will be back.

I have stayed at Gages Mill twice since September 2009 and have thoroughly enjoyed both stays. The first was when Kate and Nathan had just bought Gages Mill, it was clear they were very busy but the atmosphere was still very relaxed and I was well cared for. The room was clean and comfortable on my first visit, on my second visit the room had been redecorated, there was a new bed and mattress and the shine of fresh paint everywhere – really lovely. Don’t know how they got it all done!

Gages Mill is an old converted Mill set in its own gardens of about an acre. The setting is beautiful and peaceful – especially at night when the night sky is clear, there are no street lights and no sounds to disturb you. Haven’t slept so well in ages.

It’s great that the bed and breakfast is so close to Ashburton. I was able to walk to the town in the evening for a good evening meal and a drink. Kate was able to recommend some good places to eat for me to choose from.

All in all a great bed and breakfast – oh, I haven’t mentioned the breakfast. Breakfast is served in the main dining room which is spacious, light and nicely decorated. I have had the full English on both stays, fantastic breakfast (especially the sausages which, I was told, are from the local butcher in Ashburton).

I’ll definitely stay at Gages Mill again and wish Kate and Nathan all the best in their exciting venture.

Gages Mill is a wonderful, quiet guesthouse, tastefully decorated, with clean and spacious rooms. We had a nice view over the beautiful landscape from our window. The owners were very helpful and friendly and we had a wonderful time. The breakfast was excellent. There's really nothing to complain about, we will definitely return.

Hi Sonja165. I'm just taking some time to get to grips with Trip Advisor and have found that we have not thanked you for this, our first Trip Advisor review received after purchasing Gages Mill back in September 2009. Time has flown and those first few weeks and months are now something of a blur - don't know how we got through it to be honest! Anyway, it's never too late to say thank you, so 'thank you' for taking the time to post this lovely review - feedback such as yours is a powerful motivator for us - we love Gages Mill and it brings us great pleasure for others to enjoy it as well. Kindest regards and have a great 2013, Kate and Nathan.

We stayed at Gages Mill this and had a fabulous stay. We were there at the same time as Mr.Thoughtful (review below). The breakfast (including the coffee !) was excellent with wonderful sausages and bacon sourced from local suppliers. Andy and Lynda were super hosts and we will definitely stay again. It's location is excellent and the setting very peaceful and tranquil. Also, free wi-fi was a bonus apart from one of the guests constantly moaning about not being able to connect - turns out he couldn't read the network key.....probably Mr.Thoughtful below !! Great time, great fun.
