We have been to River Dart Country park on a couple of occasions and this was by far the best. The pitches were big and when we arrived we pretty much had the run of the place to ourselves. Clean, grass mown and the sun shining this proved to be a great start. All 4 children in our party had a great time on many things in the park for them to enjoy and the grown ups enjoyed not overpriced coffee from the bar area. On the Saturday there were lots more groups arriving and most behaved in the spirit of the park, start to wind down at 10pm and silence at 11pm. There were some that didn't share this view and the wardens did a smashing job to educate them on the community feel of the park! The next morning the manager came and apologised for any disturbance and hoped we would be back and that they are taking steps to making it a real family campsite for families that want to have fun, enjoy the excellent facilities and not to have some distrupt the peace and quiet come the darker hours. All in all a fantastic site, great facilities, clean and friendly and you very much get what you pay for - a great weekend and a lovely site.

We booked this campsite based on the activities available for the children, 10 and 14 and we were not disappointed. It is a little on the pricey side though. With 2 younguns and 2 dogs it worked out at £65 for an electric pitch for 2 nights and that's low peak!! I'm used to paying extra for dogs but at £3.50, per pup, per night I thought it was a little steep. That being said it is a little slice of heaven. The staff were mega friendly, as it was a quiet weekend we were offered our choice of pitch, despite being allocated pitches when booking. The pitches are good sized and not on top of each other. The toilets and showers were clean and in good condition, absolutely no complaints there. The dogs were expected to be kept on their leads all weekend, which I understand, but if you can keep a secret, there is a lovely walk along the river and both mine accidently slipped their leads and had a ball of a time.
The shop was a bit, to be polite, under-stocked, we ran out of milk and there wasn't a drop in the shop, but we went to the bar and they sold us some, so it was all good. The shop was awful to be fair.
The bar is superb and not over priced, it was about £4 for a pint of Rattler, which isn't too bad. The games room had plenty to keep the boys happy when it rained and the outdoor adventure area is fantastic for the kids. We took their wet suits and despite it being on the chilly side they were in and out all afternoon.
We went for the adventure play ground and we left with happy little badgers. It's worth the journey and we would definitely go again, just with lots of milk!

Had a great day here with our 7 and 2 yr old. Although at 7 you're not quite old enough for all the activities, which you do have to pay extra for, he was more than happy with the water play and pirate ship etc. We enjoyed it too, trying the obstacle course and feeling bruised the next day. Would like to go back and camp for a couple of days, but think maybe the price, is a bit steep to stay for a whole week. Great location. Nice walks.

We had been here many years ago with our children but decided to pop in there on our tour of the West Country as it held so many happy memories.
Car parking is the only fee for most of the activities and you get that back if, as we did, you have lunch at the cafe.
This is no place for wimps! I was amazed at how challenging some of it is, there is a very high chance of getting very wet but it is REAL adventure, not the over sanitised usual stuff.
You can also pay for high ropes, canoeing etc but there is plenty to do without.
The Archimedes Screw Hydro Electric Power generator was a bonus!
