We stayed at Lavender House recently on a two night special offer, and from the moment you walk in and get greeted you feel at home. The owner Keith and son Andrew are the perfect hosts. The lovely open fire place with logs burning and the lovely comfy leather sofa's make you feel like to don't want to get out.Rooms are comfy and clean with Egyptian cotton towels. The food is very good and the Breakfast in particular.Situated in a beautiful part of the Devonshire countryside, well worth a visit.

We have just enjoyed our second stay at Lavender House and will definitely return again. We were greeted like returning friends and looked after very well. I can't recommend this hotel enough, if you are looking for a break away from it all, where you can kick your slippers off and curl up in font of an open fire, relax and recharge the batteries, give the Lavender House a go. You will not be disappointed.

We recently stayed here with two friends on a voucher deal. Rooms are comfortable with good towels
and bedding. The open fire in the bar was lovely and the whole atmosphere was relaxed and welcoming.
Keith was a good host and we ate their on both nights of our stay. The food was well cooked and plentiful and the wine sensibly priced. The menu is not vast but there was something for everyone.
The steak was perfectly cooked which is a rarity I find. Breakfast has good choices and the large
Full English will keep you going all day.
We had a great time and have booked to return so that says it all!

I was unexpectedly travelling alone on one of the many vouchers available. As is so often the case, these provide good value for money. A quaint hotel with a dozen or so rooms that focuses perhaps more on weddings than the individual traveller but when all is said and done a very enjoyable stay. An open fire in the bar area to help to offset the terrible weather outside - heavy rain and high winds. Quite a deterrent from my original plan of walking on Dartmoor. I had a delightful room with a balcony that was clean, light and spacious. Even more important, the quietness at night and the view during the day were excellent. The included meal was from the standard à la carte menu with no limitations on choice. The wine list was superb with some very good value wines on it and it avoided the usual practice of excessive markups which I abhor. Excellent value for money.

We stayed here for 2 nights on a voucher. The room was a little tired and the shower needs to be rated. However we only slept and showered in the room as the rest of the time we were out. On the first night a 3 course meal was included and it was fanastic, so much food that I could not manage a sweet. I had a small breakfast in the morning and that was enough to last me all day, my husband did manage the normal size breakfast but ate nothing else until the evening. The owner was friendly as was the other members of staff that we met. Wonderfully location and setting. Will certainly stop here again.

arrived at the hotel on Sunday after walking on Dartmoor, lovely quiet location, sheep in the fields, the hotel itself is quite dated, and tired but had a nice feel about it.the room we had was reasonable, creaky doors and floorboards but ideal for somewhere to just sleep. My only criticism of the room itself was nowhere to hang towels, could do with some hooks on the back of bathroom door and some sort of shelf in the bathroom to put toiletaries..
We had dinner in the restaurant on both nights, the food itself was tasty but it was to much of a formal setting,i think it made everyone feel slghtly uncomfortable as no real ambience, a bit of background music wound have been great..
In fact the second night they had some music but there was only us and another coule eating..I think they focus a great deal on the hotel as awedding venue and maybe the other side takes a back seat..
Another place that has great potential, the best bit was location as one side you have Dartmoor, and then turn the other way and within 2 minutes you are on the A38, which allows accesst to so many places which is what we enjoyed the most..
Worth it to meet there cat as well,3 legs and one ear! still has many of its lives left..

Room Tip: Room 8 was at the end of the corridoor, small but great view and very quiet..

We recently went to a wedding here and although the hotel was in lovely settings and our room was extremely comfortable it was dreadfully disorganised, the registrar conducting the wedding failed to turn up even though we were told that she was running 20 minutes late this we accepted as the weather was appalling but she never did show. Very upsetting all round but the party went on and the bride was beautiful.

We thank you for the good comments. Unfortunately all the confusions was caused by the fact that the bride and groom had failed to book the registrar, which is not legally possible or the responsibility of the venue to do so.

Many thanks
