Once there, it's hard to believe the Barton is so accessible to the highway. A mere 5 minutes off the A30, but a world away. Very peaceful setting at the gateway of Dartmoor. Both times I've visitied, I've seen the charming Dartmoor ponies roam in the back pasture.

The rooms are cozy yet current and reasonably priced. Nice full English breakfast. On our first visit, Lu helped arrange horseback riding which is just a few minutes away from Barton. This is a quaint little village--complete with thatched roofs and old stocks. Love this area of Devon!

Spent 2 nights at the Barton and we were warmly greeted with delicious scones in the garden. The room was spotless and very comfortable and the breakfast delicious. Definitely would like to go back.

One of the best I've stayed in. Lovely location in a charming village, truly helpful hosts and a beautiful historical home. The rooms were very comfortable and the breakfast excellent. Right on the door step to the moors.

Recently spent 3 nights here and I would recommend it to anyone. A well-run and friendly B & B. Excellent breakfast, comfortable and modern rooms (although the twin room is not as large as the 2 doubles), lovely lounge/dining room for guests only, and the owner is extremely friendly and helpful- especially with recommendations of where to eat. Location is in a tiny, quiet village right on the northern tip of Dartmoor so easy access to many walks.
If I am in the area again I would definitely return to the Barton.
