“So many ideas to take home and try”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 July 2014

We had a late-sitting lunch and wondered how we would feel about a field kitchen lunch beginning at 3 ish. Wow! It was sooo good. Very special salads, wonderful beef with, of course, an abundance of veg so so original and delicious we could stop picking at yet more, though our tums were saying 'enough'.
...and then there were puddings to die for.
Really good service - efficient, knowledgeable and friendly Couldn't ask for more.

Great news that you enjoyed your lunch. We do a late sitting on a Sunday as our lunches are just so popular! Hopefully see you again soon.

“The Ritz Farm of Devon”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 July 2014

Since we were staying Buckfastleigh for our holiday we looked on Trip Ad for places to eat. Our first visit and definitely not the last to this establishment, a whole new experience of dining out. One should say be prepared to go back to school refectory dining tables and chairs, 8 people to a table, set out in a large roomy restaurant, however school dinners were never ever like this, the quality and taste of every portion was superb. You must be aware that's its a daily changing set menu so it may not be to your taste on the night, but it I can assure your taste buds from organic produce will be blown away, and the way it's prepared and presented was pleasing all round. As a closing gesture I say that I would ford any river to eat here, long may it keep flowing.

“Perfect Lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 July 2014

Riverford is a national collection of organic producers and this restaurant is on their picturesque farm near the south Devon coast.
The simple idea of cooking fresh produce straight from the field is executed perfectly and the purpose-built bright, airy restaurant and stone courtyard is the ideal location to enjoy it.
Ours was a sunny Sunday lunch of delicious and inventive salads, roast rib of beef and a wide selection of perfectly-executed desserts. Service is family-style so big platters in the middle of the table for all to share and desserts are introduced individually by the head chef, but cleverly limited to a single choice, almost guaranteeing a return visit.
We had great company on our table, engaging people with interesting stories, but it's not really a mixed crowd, everyone there seemed lovely.
They don't take walk-ins so be sure to book, and at at £23 a head for an outstanding 3-course Sunday lunch, you will not regret it.
A genuinely good lunch and somewhere I will return every time I visit Devon.

“What a Great Way to Dine”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 July 2014

Set in the countryside The Riverford Field Kitchen is a short walk from the car park through a tree lined path to the glass and rustic timber clad building secluded by banks of wild flowering plants.
Past the outside seating area you're greeted by a member of staff and shown to one of the large tables, with an eclectic mix of wooden chairs you'll take your seat at the table potentially with like minded strangers who just want great food in a relaxed atmosphere although there is a bit of reminiscing of the first day at school being sat at a large table with complete strangers, but don't let this put you off its great for starting conversation.
The set menu gives you several plates to sample for the starter and main with each option being passed around the table, just remembered everything is fresh and has great flavour.
Beet root with oranges, duck with lentils and plenty more wholesome food.
With the dessert each table is directed to the dessert counter in turn where a description of the homemade cakes and desserts is given such as the almond and pear frangipan doused with the most beautiful velvety cream you're ever likely to taste.
Coffee or tea to finish and a short stroll back to the car feeling content that you've just experienced a great way to dine and knowing that you'll return again is all you need to know about this restaurant.

Thanks for your kind words. We love the fact that you enjoyed the food but also the concept. Shared dining is not for everyone but those that come along always enjoy it. We hope to see you again very soon.
