We were staying in the village of Scoriton and went along to the quiz night. The gentleman organising it couldn't be heard over the locals who dominated the bar and who were unable to hold a conversation without liberal use of the "F" word in a loud voice. They were totally oblivious to the attempts of the person running the quiz to make himself heard. The most unfriendly country pub we have visited. If you want to visit the pub would suggest you don't go on quiz night (Thurs!!) or with the expectation of a "tourist friendly" pub. It is most certainly dominated by its regular clientele ... the locals.
Which is a shame as the pub serves good food and real ale and there is a nice view from the beer garden.

The Tradesman's Arms is in a very quiet village only 3 or 4 miles from Buckfastleigh and therefore close to the Abbey, the South Devon Railway and the Butterfly and Otter Centres. Their real ales are well kept and the food is delicious, plentiful (you have been warned!) and reasonably priced. The Arms has been refurbished over the last few years, in fact the last of the bedrooms is nearly finished. The room we stayed in was of a good size and comfortable. They will take well behaved dogs with advance notice. I believe they are on the Two Moors Way.
