The staff here during our weekend break were very helpful and friendly. The food was good especially the breakfast which had a good range of choices.
The location by the busy road junction meant it was difficult to walk into town but a good central location for touring Devon by car or public transport.
The hotel was a bit tired looking although the room was clean

Have had several short breaks at other hotels in the Old English Inns Group, but this was a first at the Dartbridge. Good choice! Excellent food, very helpful and friendly servers (especially Ben and Jack), comfortable beds and a nice clean bedroom (we had expected a less-than-comfortable room, having read earlier tripadvisor reviews). Just one tip - if you want a good night's sleep, wear earplugs if you have a room at the front - traffic on the A384 can be rather noisy.

Room Tip: If you book in advance, ask for a room facing the rear - it would be quieter! Although the kitchen...

Thank you very much for highlighting Jack and Ben, they will be pleased that they were noticed as i know they work very hard to exceed customers expectations and thank you for the room tips for other guests, we do have quieter rooms but they do not have the view...

Many Thanks

I stayed here for one night on a business trip, and it is not a hotel I would choose to bring my wife to. The decor is very poor and in need of some repainting, the carpets are old and stained, and the overall ambience is one of lack of care.

The staff were friendly enough and worked well to give good service. The rooms are quite small but you get what you pay for.

I had an evening meal which was standard English Inns fare....not very exciting but OK if you are hungry. Breakfast was similar. I will not come back despite the price.

Room Tip: This can be a busy road so rooms not facing the road may be quieter.

Thank you for your feedback. I am pleased the service was good and that you enjoyed your food. We are hoping for a refurbishment early next year which will give you something to return for with your wife as you will not be dissapointed with the change. Please feel free to contact us nearer the time to check refurbishment updates.

We visited the Dartbridge Inn on Sunday 23 March 2014, 4 adults & 3 kids.
The service was awful, the kids portions were almost identical in size to the adult portions, my roast beef lunch had 2 very thin slices of beef on it, as did my wives roast pork, the 2 thin slices of pork looked like bacon. VERY, VERY POOR VALUE FOR MONEY.
We sat very close to the door of the kitchen, when, once opened, i had a cheeky look inside, it dod NOT look very clean. The ceilings above a large area of the 'restaurant' were covered in water stains & there was black mould above our table.
Needless to say, WE WON'T GO BACK - POOR HYGIENE, POOR SERVICE, POOR FOOD

Thanks for taking the time to review our buniess, apologies we did not meet your expectations. I am unable to comment on the the rest of your points as we have 5 stars EHO, a very clean and tidy kitchen and proud team that prepare 100's of roasts a day which we get compliments on. If you would like to discuss further then please feel free to call me direct

This is just a review of the restaurant side of the inn. A recent Sunday lunch with friends was a definitely average experience. Made the mistake of going for the "roast" which was presented with very meager portions (1 yorkshire, 2 potatoes and a few veg). It also didn't help that the young waitress didn't bring the tray of sauces until we were three quarters of the way through our meal. Certainly won't be returning.

Thank you for taking the time to review the Dartbridge. I will share your feedback with the team and understand how this is the case as we have a good reputation for sunday roast dinners and on this occassion it was not to the usual expectation.

Just returned from a two day break with wife . Took advantage of two day offer from Old English Inns which included breakfast with full English option . Have personally visited a number of Old English Inn sites but the staff at this one are the friendliest I have met . Efficiently checked in by Ryan and allocated Room 2 at rear of property . Room was a little dark but was adequately equipped with full bathroom and flat screen TV with a range of channels . Denise had done a good job prior to my occupancy .
Dined at Hotel on both nights (Sunday & Monday) and had meals from 2 for £10.49 menu . Met various staff in bar on both nights and Jack , Ben and Kerry were very friendly and happy to share local knowledge of area .
Breakfasts were served in main bar area and comprised buffet and hot option including full English . Mine host at breakfast was Aileen with whom I shared a degree of banter . She was both efficient and friendly and this definitely set me up for each of the days of my stay .
I would not hesitate to return at some future date .

Room Tip: Rooms at rear of property are away from a busy A38 main road at front
