Lovely location, well situated for tourist attractions. The owners and staff are all very helpful and friendly. Excellent food and a superb breakfast that kept us going until the evening! Rooms are a good size, clean and very comfortable. Many original features of this 16th century property remain in pleasant contrast to the many 'ikea style' hotels around today.

This hotel may have seen better days but still has much to offer. The rooms may be a little small but they are clean, cosy and comforting. The staff in the restaurant were very friendly and welcoming. The food was very good - a very good choice at breakfast and the evening meals were interesting, well presented and reasonably priced. The hotel is well placed, easy to find and within walking distance of the South Devon Steam Railway.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights while visiting relatives in the area. It is delightful. The room had a lovely view down the valley and overlooked the front garden which is well kept. The bathroom was small but adequate and in keeping with an old building(former corn mill).
The staff and owners were very friendly and meals were served in the beautiful dining room.
A good choice of breakfast, and dinner was excellent. The chef knows his sauces! The spinach filo was to die for and the family who joined us for dinner, who lived locally were most impressed. The owners were very helpful in suggesting places to visit on our second day,for example, the Round Robin trip from Totnes sailing down the Dart, across to kingswera ,back to Paignton on a steam trai and bus back to Totnes-all dovetailed for timings.

If you are looking for a modern hotel then go to a premier inn as this is a "traditional" old English mill. The decor is more Laura Ashley with dark wood beams. A fabulous breakfast. Cheeseboard n Rose wine in small hotel bar was fantastic and we arrived late and they couldn't have befn more hospitable and helpful. Very family run business we loved it. Everywhere clean. We would return to stay again if in area as other end of country to us. Lovely place. No traffic noise. Woke to see green fields. No hustle or bustle a great start to our holidays.

We have eaten here on a number of occasions, large and small, and we always have a good meal. The most recent time was for a friends birthday in June. There were 6 of us on a Saturday evening. Everything was cooked beautifully. Meat was tender and a good selection of vegetables. Lovely sauce.
This is a small, traditional country hotel. There is a small bar, with 2 separate restaurant areas. I recommend it.

OK, the room wasn't huge and neither were the towels, but the bed was comfy and everything was clean. The included breakfast was enormous, with plenty of choice so that was a great start to a day's touring of Devon. We ate every night in the restaurant and the menu and size of the meals were also excellent, although we would have preferred to eat later. The last meal orders are at 8pm. We spent our days visiting the marvellous Castle Drogo, Buckfastleigh Abbey, Totnes, Dartmouth, Buckfast Abbey and of course, Dartmoor. All the staff, especially the owners, Ann and Bob, were very friendly and welcoming too. We would return if we revisit this area again.

Had to go to the south to mix business with pleasure, took my wife and 3 yr old with me, its been a while since my last visit to Devon. Owners were very accomodating with requests of early breakfast and prompt, made my wife and young son feel very wlecome and were very helpfull with places to visit. information avalible was ample for attractions and the pint was very welcomed at the end of the day, food was first class and a good local sourced selection, pleased to see they support the local food suppliers. Room was very nice and clean and the beds were well positioned in the room, slept very well and my son slept through as well. good place to stay, and why do you need wifi in a place like that (you must be bored to take a lap top), other guests were polite and the atmoshere was very warm and welcoming.
