Reviewed 11 March 2013

We booked a one night stay at Furzeleigh as we were having a very short break in Devon, we arrived just before 6pm and were shown to a lovely, comfortable ensuite room. However the trouble started when the occupants of the neighbouring room returned, they were very noisy and being an old building the floors are very rickety and there is not a lot of sound proofing. Also they were obviously travelling with others as well as there was a lot of noise between rooms.

We asked whether we could move rooms and were told there were none as there was a large booking for some Spanish workmen who were working nearby and had been there for a fortnight, the owner tried to reassure us that they usually left early in the morning however with the amount of noise they were making we just saw that as we would be woken up early as well.

We understand that these days bookings have to be taken where they can however this was not the quiet break in a country inn that we had envisaged so we made the decision to take the 90 min journey home, very disappointed.

As previously stated we thought the accommodation was comfortable however you may wish to check that they haven't turned into a workers hostel

Our stay at Furzeleigh Mill was full of traditional hospitality, excellent food in a beautiful building. Our room was cosy, plenty of hanging space, tea and coffee, wonderful comfortable bed with masses of hot water and central heating. Phil the Chef's dinners were superb, great menu with local produce on the special's. Our lovely hosts, Bob and Ann ensured we had everything we could have hoped for, for our large party, (including the dogs) who all stayed for 2 nights. Great location for visiting all that this wonderful area of Dartmoor has to offer, we will return I am sure.

We stayed here for 2 nights arriving on the Friday, as part of a shooting party, and had a fabulous weekend. Despite the weather being truly awful, this place was friendly, warm and cosy. Ann and Bob the owners are lovely people, and we were all made to feel very welcome. Our rooms, although small, were spotlessly clean and nicely furnished with everything that you could possibly need, including very hot water for showering. Our evening meal was wonderful, and plentiful, as was our lovely Darmoor Breakfast. All in all, a fantastic weekend despite the torrential rain and floods, spent in a very fine old mill with lovely people. Many thanks. We will most certainly be back!

We stayed here one night when we were touring the Uk. We called in on the off chance of accommodation, and were delighted when we got a room with an ensuite. The evening meal was lovely, as was next days breakfast. Our hosts were warm and friendly, and our room was clean and refreshing. Would certainly stay again.

I have stayed here several times for evening business meetings. Lovely surroundings, very picturesque looking hotel, small and very very friendly. Excellent welcome, comfortable bedroom, with good shower, flat screen TV, nice bedlinen, lovely views. The set evening meal for over 20 of us offered three excellent and well cooked courses. The puddings are just amazing. And naturally they also serve an excellent breakfast. I wholeheartedly recommend people stay here if visiting Dartmoor, they will not be disappointed.

We chose Furzeleigh Mill Hotel for it's location, convenient for both Dartmoor and the South Coast, and we weren't disappointed. The roo was small but well equiped, and more importantly, spotlessly clean and freashly decorated. The food too was excellent, with a 'scrummy' brekfast that set you up for the day. The evening meals were just as good, and we were quite happy to entertain friends there for dinner, which was throroughly enjoyed by us all. this is a great place for those who enjoy small faamily run hotels where service and value for money come first.

Stayed for 2 nights to attend a family wedding nearby.Lovely room facing down the dart valley.Lovely meal in the restauarant the first night and good nights sleep despite being near to the motorway.Came back from the wedding and despite the restaurant having finished for the evening the chef made us scrambled eggs and smoked salmon. The owners are charming and all the staff are very friendly.Breakfast are excellent and it is a lovely spot to explore the Dartmoor area. Lovely garden in which to enjoy a pre dinner drink

Room Tip: Rooms at the front are quieter, with a lovely view - however with windows closed you can hardly hear...
