“Felt really welcome”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 August 2011

What a gem of a place to stay! We were made to feel really welcome there by our hosts and their pets, and the location is just spot on for a peaceful weekend away. Loved the beautiful old, cozy house, with it's amazing array of books and antiques. Room was lovely and clean, with a comfy bed, and dressers decorated with little vases of freshly cut garden flowers. The shower was newly fitted and fantastically powerful (great for after a good days walking on the moors!)..and breakfast was spot on! Can definitely recommend the fruit and yogurt!

What a joy and delight to have stayed at Greenbanks we miss it already. You feel like a member of the family as you join the flow of friends family and pets that appear in the kitchen. It's no surprise it's so popular as the host are a joy to be with and make you feel very welcome.
We had the annexe room which was gorgeous, with the best shower in the world as well as a super comfy bed. Despite the flow of people we had plenty of privacy and came and went as we pleased. Make time for the yummy breakfast and feel free to ask about the area there are plenty of maps and books available.
We will be returning as often as we can!

I couldn't rate this place more highly. Everything about Greenbanks makes for an exceptional stay. Our hosts were wonderful and kind, going out of their way to make us feel more than home from home. The food was excellent, and generous. Their conversation and bonhomie really added something to our holiday. We cannot wait to go back to our new friends in the Southwest!!

Room Tip: Ask for the annexe, with amazing shower room

Greenbank is something very special.Fru and Peter run a friendly charming country house which is full of character in a beautiful setting. The rooms are really comfortable and everything works very well.As for the breakfast, well it is difficult to find the right word to describe it but I think 'scrumptious' would sum it up.There is also a parrot in the kitchen that might talk if you are lucky and some delightful friendly dogs. Don't miss this place if you are around Dartmoor.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 nights & it was just perfect. Frances & Peter are both such lovely people & really looked after us. We stayed in the annexe room which was spacious, comfortable with a really great shower (and under-floor heating, such a treat!)

Breakfast was yummy with fresh fruit and yoghurt, followed by Frances and Peter's free-range eggs and whatever else we wanted.

My husband's bike got a puncture while we where there and Peter spent over an hour helping us to sort it out. And he's got the most amazing vegetable garden...

Greenbank is a 10 minute walk outside of Chagford, which is a really nice village in the Dartmoor.

Overall, I couldn't fault our stay - it was perfect.

We stayed for a couple of nights over May Bank holiday in the annexee. The room was comfortable with views over the garden. There were a few board games too including scrabble and lots of books- useful if the weather is bad. The bathroom was nice with a powerful shower.
Breakfast in the morning was very tasty and plentiful with fresh eggs and the fruit beforehand was a nice start.
There were also some cute dogs and a very sweet cat to keep us company!
We enjoyed our stay and would visit again!

This is a marvellous B & B on the edge of Chagford, in a delightful characterful house with a lovely and extensive garden, and beautiful views. Our hosts Frances and Peter could not have made us more welcome, bringing us into their large homely kitchen for tea and shortbread when we arrived, and telling us about the local area - in the company of 'Tookie' the parrot.
Our room was very spacious and comfortable, and beautifully furnished. Our large comfortable bathroom featured underfloor heating and an enormous shower.
Frances and Peter provided us with delicious breakfasts which included their own free range eggs and fresh fruit grown in the garden. The house is full of books, and we were encouraged to browse them as we wished.
The house is a ten minute walk from Chagford, an attractive village in itself, and a great location from which to explore Dartmoor.
