“Lovely local pub”
Reviewed 20 August 2013

We visited the Carpenters Arms in August '13.
Had a great pub meal and the staff were lovely, nothing too much trouble.
Will definitely return if in the area.

“A proper village pub”
Reviewed 3 August 2013

The Carps, as the locals call it, is a proper village pub that hasn't been messed about too much. It's in a quiet, pretty village on Dartmoor, and is well worth visit, in either summer, when you can sit outside, or winter, when there's a log fire. It's not all about the food, as it is in many pubs these days, though there is a good menu and the food is home cooked and tasty. It's about a warm welcome, good beer, friendly atmosphere and pleasant surroundings.

“Couldn't Fault It”
Reviewed 24 July 2013

Been to this pub three years running now and haven't been disappointed - the menu is perfect for a village pub wouldn't expect anything else. Ate there three times on the trot this year and we weren't disappointed - just incredibly full!! Wine wasn't overpriced as some places. Bar staff very friendly and welcoming. Would certainly recommend it Not sure what concertjon meant in April - stay how you are Carpenter's Arms.

“Not the most exciting place on this earth”
Reviewed 23 April 2013 via mobile

Many village pubs have saved their futures by beefing up their food service. Sadly the carpenter's arm has yet to catch up and despite two visits recently, i'd be reluctant to recommend this pub as an eatery unless you are happy with 'tourist' food. Prices are reasonable, red wines not bad, but about the best thing about the place are the two real fires. Maybe April is not their best time but as the only pub in the village they need to up their game.

“Good bar food with more than just pies”
Reviewed 19 February 2013

Good menu with choice for kids too. Egg & chips to salmon fishcakes with sweet chilli dip. Something for everyone. Friendly, warm no frills experience but no worse for that, quite a relief from Chintz and Chain owned eateries. Oh and I nearly forgot, jolly good beer.
