A regular meeting place for me and friends. The food is easily 5* quality, with the menu changing frequently to reflect seasonality and has a price range to suit all pockets. We attend the quizzes and karaoke too and the theme nights are also really good fun (look out for the annual St George's day evening!!).

The beer is good too with a vast selection of local ales. The inner decor is olde wordy and characterful, just right for a country pub, and hasn't been overly commercialized.

Bill is the archetypical grumpy English landlord, but has a heart of gold underneath it all and does a lot of fundraising for local and national charities. The theme evenings are always run in aid of something from the local hospice to Diabetes UK to National Crohns and Colitis Association.

Good parking with easy access to the rooms. Greeted by a friendly receptionist and shown to our room. There was persistant road noise although it did not affect the quality of sleep as the bed was so comfortable.
There was the usual complimentary tea & coffee tray with bottled water (39p according to the label) and a hairdryer, which was useful. There was a third-full decanter of sherry with two glasses that smelled of sherry and clearly hadn't been washed properly. The room could do with a thorough clean and a bit of refurbishment. There was mould on the net curtains, the shower curtain and around the bath taps. The lock on the en-suite door didn't work and the door would open at random. The floorboards creaked with every step.
Breakfast was fine and freshly cooked. However, it's the only place I've stayed where I've had to make my own cup of tea. Teapots would be helpful. Most people just put their cups on their table as the cups did not fit the saucers. Also had to use one of the two domestic toasters next to the tea to make toast. A bit inconvenient if more than two people wanted toast at the same time. I've given it an "average" score. It was worse than average, but better than "poor". An odd place, OK for an overnight stay but no more.

Old fashioned hotel, messed up booking remedied well. 2 single rooms booked instead of a double and a twin.

3 doubles provided as well as a discount to sort out the situation.

Breakfast ok and rooms comfortable. Strange pub and decor.

I recently visited this establishment with two adults with learning disabilities one was clapping and making happy noises, the landlord said to us I cant have that in here IT is upsetting other customers we were actually the only ones in there at the time his review on his website says disabled friendly (that is a joke) maybe he means if they are in a wheelchair and don't speak they can come in. I was fuming with him but rather than upset the clients we left the landlord is the most rude man I have ever met it is discrimination.

Really impressed with the refurb here especially the Sunflower Restaurant
Love the new menu especially the choice of great steaks & the chefs specials like Tournedos Rossini, Beef Stroganoff & Sherry Chicken
Definitely worth trying and great value for money

Stayed here for four days . Excellent location for access to local amenities. Nice room and the bed was one of the best hotel beds we have ever slept in. We were welcomed and all the staff were vey efficient and friendly. Nothing was too much trouble. We found the food and service excellent
The whitebait starter and also the garlic mushroom starter was brilliant. The liver and bacon and the fish dishes were also very good . There was a good choice and reasonably priced
Will look forward to our next visit

Room Tip: Go for the superior room

We stayed here for a couple of nights this weekend. The owners were really helpful and friendly and didn't mind at all that we arrived after midnight on Friday night. Breakfasts are good, fresh and plentiful and the rooms are comfortable and clean with good comfy beds. This is not a boutique hotel but it is is excellent value and certainly a great base for Ivybridge and the surrounding beautiful countryside. I'd definitely recommend it!

Room Tip: Go for the superior double - only £5 more than the normal double and much more room!
