“Much better!”
Reviewed 21 April 2014 via mobile

Haven't been to this pub for a long time due to the last tenants running the place into the ground. Which was a shame because we actually live in the village.
We've heard some positive comments over the last few months, so decided to give the Westward another chance.
Both me and my wife had the Sunday roast, which was very good. It was plentiful, well presented with good quality ingredients. A couple of little negatives was that the gravy, served in a gravy boat, was only luke warm. The hot puddings were tasty and very good value for money. The custard could have been hotter and did taste a little watery. The staff were nice and friendly.
Overall, it was a very nice experiance. Nice to see the place heading in the right direction.
Glad to say that we will be returning.

“New owners with new aspirations”
Reviewed 10 March 2014

I went to the westward this week, during lunch time and found that they had new owners to my delight the staff were amazing helpful and friendly, couldn't fault the food and the menu had many choices and was at a reasonable price. Found out that they also do a roast on Sunday which again was a great price will be going back to sample this brilliant .....

“Open?”
Reviewed 26 January 2014

We went to the Westward on Thursday 23th Jan. approx. 9.p.m. The bar was empty, no a soul in sight, there was much, chatter coming from somewhere unseen to us. We waited for a while, but no-one came into the bar, we had intended to have an evening meal, the website stating that food was served until 9.30. We ended up walking out in disgust, and went to the local Harvester. Perhaps the owners should go there and learn how to treat customers.
We have been to the Westward on many occasions in the past, but would not think of going there again. Disappointed and disgusted at the way this once popular restaurant has gone down hill.

“No red wine left!”
Reviewed 1 November 2013

Went for an impromptu eve mid week meal and was told only enough red wine left for 2 glasses. This is a pub for goodness sake! Food average and place empty so obviously not a popular venue even for locals

“Good food, great value.”
Reviewed 13 October 2013

Food was excellent, good portions, well cooked, lovely chunky chips. Only downside was that they had been caught out by cold snap and room was quite cold.
