We stayed in room 9 for 2 nights and the room was gorgeous to look at, seemed almost brand new and i think it had just been refurbished. There is a hairdryer, wardrobe, chest of drawers and the bathroom is beautiful with free shampoos, shower gel etc. My major issue with the room was the dressing table....there is a dressing table with a stool underneath but no mirror in front of it to do your make-up or hair in?! We were there for a wedding so i found this really irritating and had to stand above a chest of drawers doing my make up in a mirror that was at an awful height, i just don't understand why the mirror isn't just above the dressing table? My friends were in the ad-joining room to ours and their mirror was above the dressing table but it was about 2 feet above it so you couldn't see in it once you sat down, it's a simple thing to fix so I suggest management sorts this simple thing out as it is an inconvenience. Bed was really comfy, slept like a baby both nights and wifi works well in the room.
The next part is not so good- the staff......my goodness the restaurant staff need to get their act together not only at dinner but also at breakfast (mainly at breakfast) dinner was lovely as the chef is fantastic so once you get the food you have a treat but the poor chef is being let down badly by his front of staff. The breakfast staff wander around like they don't have a clue what they're up to. My 3 friends ordered their breakfast at 9.40am as one of them had a taxi booked for 10.10am and 40 mins later there was still no sign of breakfast and one girl had had to leave hungry after paying for breakfast as part of her B&B package. Basically we were told the girl who took the order had then gone off shift and not passed over the order! How ridiculous. Both mornings breakfast was a joke, waiting ages to even order a simple cup of tea let alone your actual breakfast. I think my mate waited about 20mins for a glass of water on day 1 and 30 mins for an espresso on day 2. Not good enough, they're really letting down a fantastic hotel that is gorgeous and the food is amazing once it comes out so the staff just need to get some proper training.
I would recommend this hotel for it's lovely village location and modern decor (be warned there is nothing around other than 2 pubs, no local shop etc) but if you drive it's fine. Rooms gorgeous, just be warned about breakfast and maybe get down there half an hour earlier than originally intended! Hopefully they'll improve their service and your review will be a 5 out of 5.
