Beautiful setting. Delightful cottage. From the quality of the accommodation and thought given to the little things, it's clear the owners care. Will definitely be back.
Three Pound Cottage is situated in the prettiest village imaginable and is straight out of a fairy tale. With it’s thatched roof and wonderful setting it comes as a wonderful surprise when stepping over the threshold to find not only the charm you would expect from such a glorious period cottage but a modern kitchen, modern bathroom and the added bonus of a separate shower room and toilet. Lustleigh is the perfect setting out point for walks on Dartmoor, visits to the always fascinating House of Marbles, shop till you drop at Trago Mills and National Trust properties abound. Go explore, there is something for all ages!
We shared this wonderful cottage with friends and there was more than enough space for two couples. We were welcomed with a wonderful basket of food, etc. The cottage supplied everything we required. There were maps for walks, places to visit and even postcards of the cottage for us to send back to our family in Australia. We ate at the lovely Cleve Pub most nights (and even entered their Tuesday night Quiz Night) but were able to use the well equipped kitchen to cook on some nights. Would love to return to this beautiful cottage in the future.
Our third trip to Lustleigh, but first rental here. We would definitely return to Lustlegh and this cottage. Cottage is very comfortable and located close to all Dartmoor attractions. Modern kitchen and baths. Fireplace and Netflix, etc. on TV. Wonderful walks starting off from the Cottage. And a terrific pub, The Cleave, about a hundred yards away. Ancient church in center of village and an even more charming very secluded village (Wreyland) a few hundred yards easy walk. The only drawback is accessibility for persons with limited mobility or wheelchairs. Parking is on a street up a short hill (there are stairs up the hill to help in this) and parking can be limited on weekends when walkers come to Lustleigh. (There is parking next to the house for loading/unloading.) Stairs to primary bathroom are old stone circular and bit of a challenge. For most people, this isn't a problem. I am 66 and managed just fine. I don't want to scare anyone off, because this place is very very nice, but I always want to know as much as as I can before I rent. Even though this town is popular for walkers and for The Cleave, and parking can be limited, its small size mitigates against crowds--you will always be able to be private here.
Absolutely great place
A wonderful English cottage in a romantic setting
With modern kitchen and bath rooms
Food for the soul great walks nearby
What a great place to stay. We spent two weeks here in July. The house was very comfortable to come back to after a day out with the children or an evening in the excellent pub round the corner.
The cottage is finished to a very high standard although ceiling beams and doorways are low so if you're tall like me then you need to mind your head a bit.
Parking in Lustleigh can be difficult in the evenings as, not surprisingly, the village was never designed with cars in mind but we generally managed to find somewhere close to the cottage.
Three Pound Cottage had everything we needed. The only criticism is the placement of the dishwasher behind the kitchen door, which makes access awkward.
we loved the cottage! so quaint, authentic and yet all the amenities we needed (dishwasher! :-) ) the children were happy, the environment gorgeous, the people very friendly.
