Lovely views over Dartmoor. We had a couple of drinks and dinner. The portions were huge and the food was very tasty.

I had spinach and ricotta cannelloni in a tomato sauce with garlic bread and salad. It was so big I couldn't finish! The garlic bread in particular was delicious, full of flavour.

A fair amount of choice for veggies which is great and friendly service.

Called here for a quick drink after a long hard walk across the moors. It is a basic but welcoming pub which oozes character. It was impressive to see that they were serving food throughout the afternoon. Iconic location.

This is the most unfriendly, inhospitable pub I have ever had the misfortune of entering. The location is fantastic with unspoilt views and plenty of passing trade but unfortunately The landlord is rude and obnoxious, not only to his clientele but also his staff. There was only one poor girl behind the bar during the lunchtime rush and she was spoken to dreadfully despite doing a great job! The website makes a big point of children welcome, but only if you want to sit in one pokey room at the back! The toilets are abysmal, they smelt and were in very poor repair. The food was very disappointing, how anyone can manage to dish up frozen peas that smell I do not know. Three of our group had the pies, that are supposed to be the main feature of this Inn and they were dry and over cooked. Such a huge shame, this was a planned stop on our weekend to Dartmoor and we all left angry and very disappointed.

In the middle of Dartmoor, with very little around it, you come across this quaint pub. I’ve been here a few times, in different weathers. In winter there is always a flaming fire to warm you through but, this time, the weather was very warm.
Sitting outside with one of their local ales, viewing the Moors, was perfect. I cannot comment on the taste of the food but from what I saw coming out of the kitchens, it looked good, in fact very good.
If you can find it, it’s worth a visit.

I stopped here after a walk in the moors and was not disappointed. Good selection of ales and they have some of the best local scrumpy I've ever had. The rabbit pie was quite good too. Definitely worth a stop for a pint after a day in the moors.
