We hadn't been to the Rugglestone for a while, and sadly we found this visit somewhat disappointing compared to previous visits. One of us had the steak pie which, although packed with lots of meat, was a little tasteless and a bit dry whilst the pasty crust was hard. The other pie, steak and stilton, had a good pastry crust, plenty of filling but the gravy was thin. However, the main bugbear on this visit was the over-riding smell of stale fat which permeated the pub and our clothes reeked of chips and grease when we got outside. Better ventilation is required to stop odours spoiling a nice country pub.
