Real good selection of food, Sunday roast is excellent.

This is a great eatery, whether you just want breakfast, a snack, a slice of cake, a cream tea,or brunch, or may be your hungry enough for lunch, you will not be disappointed. The food is excellent and delivered to your table by friendly, professional staff. The Cafe on the Green is popular for Sunday lunch so remember to book.to avoid disappointment.

26 people in one go turned up. All food arrived within 5 minutes. Nothing was to much trouble for the staff. If I had to find any fault a couple more roast spuds would have been good on the adult plates.

We have enthusiastically used the Cafe on the Green for some years now, often for ourselves, but also Sunday lunch, family functions and other occasions.

Hitherto always first class we were naturally concerned to see that it has now changed hands

What a disappointment!

The first thing we noticed was a hand-written A-board with an adequate but standard and uninspiring menu. Previously the food has always been tempting and interesting, on this day it was typical "cafe-type" food such as you expect at a sea-side resort in season

The second change we noticed was the characteristic, unmistakable and slightly neaseating odour of unchanged frying oil pervading the whole restaurant.

Inside, the written menus had disappeared and been replaced with a chalk board listing the same dishes as the A-board. No specials, nothing different or imaginative, nothing to tempt the appetite.

Whereas before the counter-staff were always smartly, casually dressed they were now just casual and their manner suggested greater familiarity with a fast-food busy sea-front eatery.

No finesse, no style the Cafe's offering is now at odds with its attractive setting and decor.

Clearly aiming at a totally different market (the never-to-return, uncritical, tourist one) I am sorry to say the CotG is now eminently missable.

This is such a great shame, under its previous ownership the Cafe made visiting this picturesque but otherwise dull and uninteresting village worth travelling to.

Hi there,

We very much appreciate your feedback and we are very sorry to hear you did not enjoy your experience at the Cafe on this occasion. We would kindly like to state that having only taken over the Cafe just over a week ago now, very little has been changed, the cafe is still running in almost exactly the same way as under the previous owners. A number of the points you make in your feedback we strongly agree with and are priorities for us to correct and improve. We do hope you can come and visit us again in a few months time once some changes have been made under the new management.

Many thanks

Becca & Jamie
