“beautiful lodge and kids entertainment was a big hit”
Reviewed 3 September 2011

New, beautiful, tastefully furnished (by ikea mostly), curlew 2 bed lodge - with a fantastic hot tub. some things were slightly off e.g. shower fluctuated between hot and cold sometimes and water pressure not great. TV is concealed but appears at the touch of a button. Kitchen well equipped and new.

We had a great time at hazelwood park - my boy loved the disco/games/bingo each evening - entertainment team are good. The park was generally very quiet which was a great relief.

Internet wireless, while promised on the website - there was no reception in our lodge so we cancelled and the park didnt quibble about a refund. but we do rely on the net as a guidebook so we were a little blind... we might have not got our expectations so high about the marble museum...

Service at hazelwood was very thorough, my wife got the shock of her life when she heard a bloke outside the bedroom at 8am - we found he was checking the hot tub water! A fuse went in the lodge and after advising reception, they sent an engineer right away and it was fixed when we got back from our day out.

Beach a 10-15 min walk away from our lodge and was very nice - even nicer is the beach down past red rock. good amusements with a great ticketing for prizes system.
Eating out is quite limited in dawlish warren, in fact all over the area.

We would return to the lodge and the park - we werent over keen on the area, but it's easily accessible so thats a big plus.

Returned from a lovely holiday. The site's contention that they are 5 mins from the beach is very ambitious but it is a lovely fairly quiet site. Lodge was immaculate. staff were not particularly attentive and there was no welcome info other than a brochure and they were not much better when we went to reception. That said we did not go for an active site on purpose. We would definetly go back to this area again. We went in high season and felt the price paid was very good value.

We wanted a cheap friendly base for our holiday and this filled our requirement. We used the clubhouse every night, the staff were friendly and the entertainment was what you would expect from a holiday park.. bingo and cheesy cabaret acts. One evening, we ordered dinner from the onsite chippy, ample portions and very tasty.
Although we probably left the chalis cleaner than when we arrived, the standard of accomodation was acceptable for what the price was.
We wasn't brave enough to experience the onsite swimming pool as it was outdoor & rather chilly most days. It was small and situated right by the main entrance of the site (in view of the main road).
I would definately go back in the future though.

just got back from a short break .really cheap for this time of year.chalet was basic but comfotable. everyone really friendly.good shop fresh fish& chips and a reasonable price.the one thing i look forward to when on holiday is relaxing in the bar and being entertained.unfortunatly the bar looks far from appealing from the outside. a corridor between the shop and storeroom.however much more appealing when inside. the barstaff were great .the prices again reasonable . it was very quiet so therefor a hard job for the entertainments team.but i feel they could have done a lot better job most of them couldnt sing (except zoe)and after bingo there was a gap of over an hour before any sort of entertainment commenced.the shows were a mismatch and didnt live up to there titles. and the elvis tribute was a joke.if your looking for entertainment i would suggest going elsewhere.but the site is loverly and makes a good base for all the great activities around.

We stayed in a hazelwood, which although small ticked all the boxes. It was very clean and had all the basic amenities which suited our needs. We did have a laugh at the double bed which was really on the small side but didnt bother us. The site really is beautiful and has some excellent lake which can be used for fishing. There are a high number of redsidents here which really give of a family feeling and makes the site seem very safe. Everyone says hello as you pass them. My daughter was 9 at the time and was over the moon to be allowed a bit more freedom, we sent her to the on site shop every morning for our papers and any other bits we needed, we could see the shop from our chalet so i only went in there twice once at the start and once on our last day, where i was amazed to hear our daughter chatting to staff and shoppers like she knew them. the sites shop is very good value and the pool although small suited our needs and got our daughter swimming properly. I only wish it was open a little earlier in the morning so we could take a dip before heading out for the day. There is so much to do in the surrounding areas, the beach is within easy walking distance and very clean, we walked along it for a good few miles and got the bus back to the site. transport is great if you dont want to drive about. Powderham castle is an absolute must and very nearby, the team there are great and put on brilliant activities for the kids although the cafe was overpriced so take a packed lunch. We did the steam train ride and felt very famous five with our doorstop sandwiches and lemonade. We spent all of our days off site and the chalet was a brilliant base to come back to at the end of the day. The on site take away was fab, as was the pub at the beach for food. Also we ventured up the road to a pub which i can not remember the name of but it was on a hill and had the most amazing veiws out to sea. Most evenings our son was asleep before 7 so we didnt try out the on site entertainment but i can say we didnt hear a thing in the way of noise in the evenings. It was so peaceful even though we were right near the bar, i couldnt believe there was a disco going on. I would say this site is a little old fashioned but i loved that about it, friendly people and no pressure to spend spend spend which i was keen to avoid. We honestly had the most amazing time for a very fair price, if we could afford a holiday this year it is where we would be going without doubt.

We spent a week with our two children in the budget chalet and had a lovely time. Our chalet overlooked the play park and the lakes so plenty to amuse the kids between trips out. We were just before the main season so not a full entertainment package but we did use the clubhouse several evenings and enjoyed the community feel there.

My partner caught some fish in the lake so that kept him happy! Dawlish Warren is a lovely little holiday town and there was plenty to do, it was also easy to travel to lots of Devon attractions, we visited Paignton Zoo, Babbacome model village amongst others.

The accommodation was basic but clean and well equipped. The shower room was lovely even though we were in the budget chalets. Only thing lacking was a safety rail or bedguard on the bunkbeds, we couldn't use the top bunk because of this. We only used the pool once as it is an outdoor pool and the weather wasn't great. Overall, it was a good choice and we will come again. What really stands out about this park is the really friendly and welcoming staff. Oh and the fabulous fish and chip shop on site!!!
