We stayed in one of the lodges on "Curlew" very nice. It was clean but there were lots of little spiders about ! And the outside of the windows could have been cleaner. (Just me being picky) There was everything that you would want including a dishwasher!!
The site it self was very nice with a lovely fishing lake set in the middle. There were a lot of ducks and many ducklings. They were a pleasure especially when you had to stop the car whilst Mummy duck ushered her babies across the road. The only downside on the ducks were the droppings. The area was covered with it, when walking you certainly had to be careful were you put your feet.
We didn't use any of the facilities on the site, only because we like to go out and about.
There was a "Londis" mini supermarket which was very good and wasn't to over priced. The staff in there were lovely.

Room Tip: The Lodges are set on the out skirt making it more peaceful

We arrived with our 3 year old grandson, really early and though check in is not until 4 o'clock, they rang us early to let us know our chalet was ready - good start. Now the Hazelwood chalet we stayed in is basic but had everything we needed to survive. I must say that the sofa and armchair had seen "better days" (no stuffing left so very uncomfortable) but the weather was glorious so we didn't use the chalet for much except for sleeping (beds were fine). It also could have been a bit cleaner, nothing to drastic, but a few cobwebs and the carpet looked liked it hadn't been hoovered, but their was a Hoover left, so a quick once over and we were done. The club house is small and very friendly (only open at night) and served a good selection of drinks and hot snacks. The biggest problem with the site is the duck/swan droppings - they are everywhere and most chalets do not have a stone pathway to door, so you have to walk on the grass - not good especially if you have children. You couldn't let the children run free or even to the small playground by themselves, as they would have been covered in "poo". If you manage to get a chalet near reception (far away from lakes) there is much less chance of getting the poo everywhere, so remember to ask when booking. The small pool was very clean but unsupervised, so an adult was required to escort and stay with child, which I think should be mandatory anyway. We only paid £180.00 for a Monday to Friday break (2 adults and one 3 year old) and I think it was good value. As I said, the weather was excellent, the beach only a short stroll away and Dawlish Warren is excellent for small children (bigger children would most probably get bored if the weather was bad), so yes, I would return.

Room Tip: Due to ducks/swans fouling everywhere, ask for a chalet far away from lakes if possible.

Thank you for your review.
You'll be interested to know that over the past few weeks we have been steadily upgrading all the sofas and armchairs in the Hazelwood Chalets. There are just a couple remaining as I write this.
Although we see our feathered friends as an asset to our Park we know there's a bit of as issue when they decide to go for a wander the Park. We have put in place a maintenance regime of clearing up the mess when necessary in order to minimise the inconvenience.
Thanks again for the review. I hope you to see you and your grandson again soon.

Stayed for a week at the end of may. We stayed in a hazelwood which have since been refurbed since our last day with laminate flooring and new furniture which was a pleasant surprise for us. We stayed in number 1 which is the same room we stay in every year ( we have been coming here for 4 years now). We were allowed to check in a couple of hours early which was great. The rooms did firstly have quite a musty smell to them however after keeping the windows open for a while the smell went quickly. The rooms are basic but just what you need for a chilled week away. We went straight to the sainsburys up the road which you can get to via a path just left out of the main entrance to the park. The resort itself is and always will be my favourite place in england to go on holiday. The beach area is lovely and great for families. The nature reserve is beautiful too. The arcades are a favourite with my girlfriend. The boathouse is a good pub with plenty of ales and food to choose from. The rest of the pubs around the dawlish warren area are good also with the welcome inn, silly goose and lees bar all serving great food and good beer all with a good holiday atmosphere. The mount pleasant at the top of the hill is our favourite with the fantastic views over the beach and dawlish warren and the fabulous food which is fantastic value for money. We ate here twice! I recommend the surf and turf ! There are also a few shops which are good and sell everything you need and more. The takeaways are lovely too and the chinese hakaryu we ate from twice also! We used the bus service to get to dawlish, torquay, teignmouth, shaldon and paignton which is great although pricey! The only bad thing I can say is that I was dissapointed that elvis aka jimmy collins didn't perform at lees bar on wednesday when he said he was going to. He was there at the bar and the bar was full of people however he said there wasnt enough people for him to perform too :( he was also due to perform at our park but pulled out of that too which I am not surprised at as there was hardly anybody there! One family and us 2 and that was it! The clubhouse was dead every night! I was quite gutted jimmy didnt play as I enjoy his set. Overall our stay was great and will always be returning here in the future. The staff really do a good job and helped us out on every occasion ! :) oh by the way the beds are sooooo comfy!

Recently returned from 1 weeks break with extended family. Stayed in a lodge which was lovely and had lots of home comforts. Holiday park itself is quite large and many people seemed to use their car when going to shops etc. which meant that the park roads were quite busy and you certainly had to stay alert.

Park amenities were average, club house entertainment was ok with rather too much emphasis on bingo for my liking. Chip shop was poor. One big frustration was the amount of geese dropping everywhere. The children in our group wanted to play in the grass/swing area and these were covered in droppings so very disappointing

It was our first time in Dawlish area and quite disappointed with beach and surrounding facilities although the weather being poor didn't help.

Overall very good accommodation . Holiday park could be so much better with several small improvements

Great 4 day break for 2 parents 45+ and 2 girls aged 12. We upgraded to lodge - reasonable cost to upgrade and then added hot tub That the kids loved. started fishing after a 20 year break and was happy with roach of various sizes - then big struggle to land a carp that I wasn't expecting. Will definitely return here.

Stayed for a week in an Ashwood dog friendly chalet. only paid £230 for the week which we considered very good. previously stayed in a dog friendly caravan at the welcome family over the road which was very basic compared to what we had this time. The chalet was large and well decorated. it looked alot better than some of the other chalets on the park. Our only niggles about the chalet itself was the TV on the wall meant the sound of the neighbours TV did vibrate through the wall (our neighbours had theres on until gone 1am) The mattress in the double room was also unuseable as it was well past its use by time. we used the twin room to sleep. good job there was only two of us so we had that option. always open windows and door before cooking. the smoke alarm is highly sensitive even making toast set it off.
we made it a good holiday by getting out and about using the train service (didn't need to use the car at all) good facilities at Dawlish warren. The Mount pleasant inn was lovely for food.
The staff all seemed to be friendly all giving you good mornings and hellos. sadly the residents let the park down a bit. Don't be fooled by the photos thinking your going to get a lovely lakeside view. these all seemed to be privately owned. One resident had a moan at me for walking my dog and making his dog bark!! it was tied up on his decking and decided to bark at me! it was only 7pm as well. The wildlife (mainly geese) although lovely to look at did run up to us on numerous occasions hissing at our dog which made it difficult to walk around the park! i guess they are just protecting themselves but our dog was happy to ignore them. Other holiday makers also let the park down by chaining there dogs up to the picnic tables (that are for communial use) some poor dogs seemed to be tied up all day!!! owners no where to be seen.
please be aware that we had a good half mile walk to get off the park onto the main road we timed it walking at a fair pace and it was a good 10 minutes. so maybe not for the less active. although there did seem to be chalets nearer the main road that were holiday lets. so i suppose these can be requested. we did towards the end of the holiday find the walk a bit tedious.
The clubhouse i can't comment on as we weren't allowed in there with the dog. I think you can sit with your dog in the clubhouse garden but we didn't do this Sadly the fish and chip shop was never open. Londis mini supermarket was good for papers, milk ect.. The new path to sainsbury was a nice walk although you do have to walk out of the park and along the road to access it. so it is a long walk if your staying at the back of the park. we went out of the fishing gate a few times to get to sainburys but not sure this is allowed.
Main niggle was the WIFI advertised. It is supplied by a second party and it doesn't work at all. we were unable to even get onto the payment screen. This was not a huge issue for us but if its a wet week and you have bored kids i imagine it may be a problem. Maybe the park should look into improving it for the main season.
We would return but may be next time treat ourselves to a lodge (these did look super) also would ask to be nearer the main road.
