We decided on The Strand as a suitable cafe for some lunch whilst mooching around Dawlish in the first week of September. There were tables both inside and outside and despite the bright sunshine ( in fact, because of! ) we decided to eat inside as the sun was so bright! The interior was clean and cosy and service was good. I had a locally made steak pie, which was extremely good, and my better half chose a butternut squash flan. She was highly impressed with this also. We had good sized portions of chips and salad accompanying the main event and both felt that The Strand offered excellent value for a lunchtime bite to eat, certainly more than filling enough to carry us through to a late evening meal, and at a very reasonable price.
I would whole-heartedly recommend The Strand for lunch to anyone visiting Dawlish.
