Our second visit in 2013. High standards maintained - as you would expect from a family owned and run hotel. The failure of my laptop pc shortly after arrival was not a problem - Mr Mark Rodgers simply said "leave it with me" and 24 hours later it was returned - fully operational at a very reasonable cost. A family run business knows the local tradespeople and that is never available from a hotel chain. My only negative observation is that the food at dinner was occasionally not as hot as on previous visits and this was brought to the attention of the "family" during the stay. A minor hiccup. It is our intention to return again in October.

Room Tip: Same observation as before - book a room with a sea view. Simply stunning.

I stay in quite a lot of hotels on business but I was looking forward to staying at the Langstone Cliff Hotel as a base for working in Exeter. I've had glowing recommendations from family and friends, and also spent a lot of time in Dawlish Warren as a youngster so I had high expectations.

I can't fault anything about the hotel service, meals, atmosphere and facilities. Everything about the hotel was fantastic. I wouldn't say it's perfect - no-where is - but any small fault is absolutely overshadowed by everything else about the place. It is perfectly located; the staff are friendly and helpful; the food is lovely; other guests look happy and relaxed; there is great facilities for children; a good on site gym and swimming pool; and beautiful gardens.

My only regret is I couldn't stay longer!

This hotel is situated close to the beach at Dawlish Warren, has lovely grounds, lots of facilities, including indoor and outdoor pools, billiard room, bars, lounges etc. The staff were exceedingly friendly and helpful and we thought it very good value for money. There were good facilities for children as well (although we didn't have any with us).

First the good -- and it is very, very good. We (the organizers of a weekend dance event) received a huge number of compliments about how accommodating the staff was, how gracious, how helpful. The 60 dancers we brought there loved the location, loved the lovely large dance floor with tables and seats at the sides.
I could go on & on about all they loved -- the food was delicious, the choices varied, the rooms were pleasant and comfortable... Yes we’ve booked the hotel again. We do not know of a better dance venue for a group of sixty plus Country dancers: terrific dance floor, great food, wonderful location….
The not so good will only affect organisers of events there. The hotel could respond more quickly to questions about cost, food, times…. Eventually, it all got sorted out - and they were extremely accommodating of our requests, but we had anxious moments, several times, as one member of staff did not tell another member of staff about some detail or other. Organisers need to know all the details well ahead of time because what happened to us could happen to them: I undercharged the attendees, and that cut deeply into the small margin of profit.
However, the hotel was so good once we were there, the small (though annoying) worries faded into insignificance. Still, forewarned is forearmed and I am sure that next time it will all be much easier.

We always visit the Langstone and its a great place. The food and drink is second to none. The entertainment programme is extensive and there's always something on, all year round. Children are catered for very well indeed.

They love kids here, and dogs. I'd rather see less dogs about in the communal areas, as it can get a bit like Crufts, and although its cleaned very regularly it's often unavoidable that dog hairs build up on the carpets in the lounge areas. Not great if you've got young children crawling about.

Take the dogs out of the communal areas and this place takes some beating.

We stayed here for the 4th or 5th time this year and were very satisfied. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the room was lovely (clean and comfortable). Breakfast consists of a very varied selection and caters for all tastes including vegetarian. On this stay we thought of our waistlines to some extent and opted for bar meals rather than the 4 course evening meals. I can thoroughly recommend the scampi and chips which was cooked to perfection. We will stay here again in the coming months as the hotel and staff are a real gem.
If you need to take an elderly relative on holiday the hotel staff would be very obliging and wheelchair access is excellent.
The clientele are of mixed ages and professions and children are made very welcome (we didn't see many families with children but from observation and reading of the facilities available, there is assistance / facilities for babies and young children) The dedicated children's playroom we stumbled across by accident was really well equipped and would keep any toddler happy indoors on rainy days for many hours. We haven't had time to try the indoor pool but that would be an added bonus for young families.
I wish we had found this hotel when my children were young.

Room Tip: We have had a variety of rooms and all have been quiet, clean and comfortable.

Stayed here for 4 nights in June 2013. Can't praise it too highly. It is a bit difficult to find as it is very secluded but what a surprise awaits one. It has lovely grounds with loads of parking and most important of all a nice atmosphere. It takes children and dogs and so is ideally suited to families.
All the staff were most pleasant and helpful . The food is good witha large selection available for
breakfast. Bar meals are also available all day in addition to a good restaurant for evening dinner if required. Several large lounges are also available . Indoor and outdoor pools, hairdresser and various other facilities are also available although we didn't use these. We spoke to several couples who regularly come back to stay. We hope to go back also.
