“Another great stay at the Langstone Cliff Hotel”
Reviewed 17 May 2014

We have been coming here now for over 30 years initially with our children and now by ourselves or the grand children.
We have just had a mini break last week just the two the of us to celebrate our wedding anniversary and as usual it was a wonderful break, the rooms are fantastic as is the food and especially the very welcoming and efficient staff in all areas, this has not changed in all the years we have been coming here.
The hotel has a beautiful location, very good facilities for all ages, two pools, tennis, gym, childrens play area or just relaxing in the lounges and bar areas, plus excellent garden areas for those regular sunny days.
The Dawlish Warren beach and amusements area are a pleasant 10 min walk away.
The location of the hotel is ideal for those days out to see other parts of this beautiful county.
We would not hesitate to recommend The Langston Cliff Hotel to anyone wanting a holiday.

Room Tip: We always go for a family room with a sea view and balcony rooms 44-48, but all the other rooms are...

I have just returned from a 3 night stay here, which was my third visit. The staff were as ever very friendly, and couldn't do any more to make you feel at home. I stayed with my mother who is in a wheelchair, and I do have to say that it is not always easy to get around the hotel, as the old building has a number of doors to get through, however all areas can be accessed, albeit with a little help with the doors. The rooms are spacious making it easy to accommodate the wheelchair, and have had new showers installed since my last visit. These were difficult for mother to use, so I asked if the hotel had aplastic chair or stool she could use, which they had, in place, in her shower before we got back to the room!
This is a delightful, family run hotel that I would highly recommend.

Have visited this Hotel on several occasions and we never tire of it. This was our longest stay to date, but we still enjoyed every day, even the occasional wet one!
The Hotel has a very relaxed feel to it, nothing is too much trouble, and the staff are all friendly, polite and helpful.
We noticed an improvement in the quality of the food on this visit ( not that it was bad before) and we both managed to gain a few pounds!
We have a small dog who is also made to feel extremely welcome. She also loves visiting this Hotel. It is an easy walk to the beach via the back gate and also a short stroll to the now "famous" railway line which takes you direct to Paignton in one direction, or Exmouth in the other.

We would thoroughly recommend this Hotel as a place to stay to explore Devon, or indeed as a place to relax and unwind and simply enjoy the fabulous view.

Room Tip: The balcony rooms on the poolside of the Hotel provide a fantastic view as well as being spacious an...

No matter how many stars a hotel has or how much you pay there will occasionally be things that go wrong - or, because we are all different, things that some people like whilst others prefer something else. In a busy hotel where guests check in, check out, want different things it is inevitable that things cannot always meet individual expectations. The secret is, how does the hotel respond to this? Good hotels have their finger on the pulse of the whole hotel and of each guest - and the Langstone does this better than any hotel I have ever stayed in (including many 5 star places in capital cities. Owner Geoff Rogers is clear - tell us about what you like or what has gone wrong and we'll do something about it is his motto. And he does. It is what the Langstone does so wonderfully. Nothing is ever too much trouble, no stone is left unturned to provide the best service and experience possible. My family and I have been regular guests - 3 or 4 times a year for many years. We are not alone in this - each time we return we see old faces also returning for their break by the Devon sea. We are always warmly welcomed, we always say how wonderful the food is and how marvellous the staff are. Our rooms are always a pleasure to return to - and, we have found every single time that we have visited that we are going to a hotel where people care - about the job they do and the experience that they provide - and, most importantly, about every individual guest. We have stayed in hotels across the world - including some of the top star rated places - they were all good. But, nothing compares to the Langstone - anywhere - for warmth of reception, quality of food, thoughtful, caring service with a smile, the sincerity of real people (not the plastic cut outs and "flunkies" that staff chain hotels), excellent facilities, one of the best views in England, and the capacity of everyone to make you feel a valued guest and friend. Geoff Rogers should be very proud of what he has produced.

Room Tip: A poolside room is great

We have visited the Langstone Cliff a number of times - with grandchildren, with a large group of Rotarians, with friends and on our own - and it has always provided 4 star value albeit rated as a 3 star hotel. The staff are local, charming and polite and nothing is apparently too much trouble. The chefs somehow manage to provide a menu choice for members of a large group (over 50 in our case) as they sit down at the table (even for their amazing "Alternative Christmas") whereas everywhere else it seems necessary for groups to list their menu choices way in advance. We would thoroughly recomment the Langstone Cliff for family holidays or groups.

Room Tip: The two-bedroom family suites are ideal for families.

What a lovely position for a hotel overlooking the Exe estuary and Dawlish Warren. There is ample parking. This hotel is trying to keep up with ongoing restoration and seem to be winning. My wife and I stayed for a Short Mat Bowls short break and returned a few weeks later for a Spring break of a week The menu could be a little more varied and we plumbed for the carvery most nights but has more variety than most peoples needs. Entertainment was non existent on both our stays but we did play Bowls in the evening on the Bowls Break. The indoor swimming pool and was little used and adequate for our needs as was the fitness room. Cleaning of our rooms was always excellent.

The Langstone never disappoints us. We have been visiting this family owned and run hotel twice a year for over 20 years. Perfect hosts and entertainment for all the family. Food is always good and home made. Set in its own grounds, with ocean views and a 5 minute walk to the beach and Dawlish Warren or a 20 minute walk into Dawlish Town. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff, particularly Mark (Bar Manager) who looked after everyone's needs including the children at tea time. Out next trip will be in November and we have every confidence that the service etc will remain at the same high standard. Thank you to all and we look forward to seeing you again soon. Jane and Mick Murphy

Room Tip: Rooms over swimming pool area quieter. Nice rooms over the Washington Suite but can be noisy if the...
