“Fabulous family hotel”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 July 2014

We were blessed with fabulous weather during our recent stay here so could make full use of the outdoor facilities with our five children. We barely saw them as they played tennis, football, ping pong and swam with other children in the afternoon. The entertainment each night was also eagerly anticipated. We had such a lovely old fashioned seaside stay enjoying the rooms, food and service of this lovely hotel. Even made some new friends! We will definitely be back.

Booked this hotel for 2 nights to kick off the summer holidays with the children. I chose it because of how beautiful the grounds overlooking the coastal trains and blue sea looked and plus the added extras like indoor/outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts, childrens play area etc. On arrival the exterior matched my expectations, but instantly became disheartened by the visual lack of families, as there appeared to be a handful of senior citizens enjoying their cream teas soaking up the sun, I decided we would just stay the one night and move on. Wonderful receptionists then checked us in and showed us our room, which were spacious, very clean and of traditional design (with a flat screen freeview tv) After this point we ventured out to the nearby beach by a back pathway from the hotel which was shrouded in friendly woodland. On return close to supper time it was apparent that all the missing families had returned to the hotel from visiting close by beaches and coastal towns with their own unique attractions, like babbacoombe model village, Teignmouth, Torquay harbour etc. they had all come back for their amazingly tasty and efficient 5 course dinner service included in the hotels half board rate. Most mums would take their last course of Coffee/mints to enjoy in the gardens whilst being able to relax and see the children from all angles, making friendships and enjoying games on the green or in the pool or simply playing board games free to loan from reception. Others decided to take advantage of the in house childrens entertainment like magicians followed by disco in the starlit ceilings of the beautiful function suites. Most people would retire from 10 pm onwards to their comfortable beds to wake up to a fantastic buffet breakfast which included juices, cereals, pastries, fresh fruit, full English breakfast, etc etc. This is truly a gorgeous hotel for all generations and feels like its ran from behind the scenes by your gran, with amazing food, love and care and old fashioned traditions and manners with a added twist of modern conveniences and entertainment, we ended up staying an extra night, and I will be back net year with my children, mum and dad and my sister and her children as I want them to have the experience we had. We enjoyed interacting with single parents, couples, senior citizens and children from London, Belfast, and even Jerusalem. Wonderful :-)

I have just stayed in the Langstone Cliff Hotel for the past 10 weeks whilst working nearby and cannot fault it.
The staff are amazing, very friendly, helpful and nothing is too much trouble.
I ate here almost every evening and found no need to travel out of the hotel to eat elsewhere, the food was tasty, hot and freshly cooked, with good sized portions. If I wanted to change anything from how it was on the menu the staff were very amenable.
There was always plenty of parking, even on busy days and the views from the hotel are amazing.
The indoor pool and gym are available 24hrs plus table tennis, snooker room etc.
I stayed in a different room each week as I was home for weekends and every room I stayed in was very clean and comfortable, the beds are really comfy and the pillows are the best I've had in a hotel.
Overall I cannot fault the hotel and I will return for a break in the future.

My husband and I have just returned from a weekend break at the Langstone Cliff. This isn't our first trip but one of many. A place that we have been going to for several years. The reason we favour here is not only the most beautiful surroundings, cream teas to die for and peaceful location
but the caring, considerate staff.
The only downside on this visit, was the lack of air conditioning in the room and no fan, but otherwise everything else was as relaxing as ever.
The Langstone is just like a walk back in time, where old fashioned values of great customer care and service really matter. It would a great location for a Murder Mystery weekend.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with air con as they don't all have it.

Hello,
Thank you for your comments; We are glad you once again enjoyed your stay with us.
We are aware of the increasing demand for Air conditioning even with the variances of British weather and we are working hard to add air conditioning to our rooms. We have in the last 2 months added air conditioning to an additional 5 bedrooms and 2 public rooms bringing the total to 21 out of the 64 bedrooms and we are planning to add more as budgets and practicalities allow.
We do have plenty of fans though and a fan should have been provided on request we are sorry that this did not occur.

Kind Regards

Clean, friendly, lovely location and very child friendly. The baby listening service allowed us to eat in the restaurant in the evening.
The hotel allows dogs in the lounge area but the lounges were always clean and welcoming.
The themed weekends are very pipular

We spent a week here on a bowls tour of the local bowling clubs. The hotel was very nice , the food was excellent, and the staff were very helpful considering there were 50 of us in the party i would throughly recommend this hotel to anyone. It is only a 5min walk to Dawlish Warren train
station and there is a local bus stop opposite the hotel

Room Tip: A front sea view with a balcony

Lovely location and nice grounds with outdoor swimming pool. Comfortable lounges. Our room was comfortable and we were pleased we could swap the duvet for proper sheets and a blanket. Staff were very pleasant and helpful. Food was reasonable but definitely 3 star, not 4 star.I liked the breakfast sausages particularly. Wonderful ballroom, but poor sound system. Overall our experience was pretty good.

Room Tip: Ask for a room with air conditioning
