This is how all pubs should be!
Full of character, great food and a place where the locals can mingle with visitors. We always call in at this pub when we visit Torbay. It is a great walk from Dartmouth to Dittisham and when you get there you feel you have really deserved a pint and lunch. The staff always make you welcome and the place is child friendly. A totally unspoilt pub in a beautiful location. Go and try it now before it gets bought out and ruined by one of the big pub chains..

Ferry Boat Inn in Dittisham, just up river from Dartmouth. Friendly, great atmosphere, good beer and the food was good too. Try the main-course sized prawn cocktail! Check out the décor in the ladies' loos

This little place bursts with character. It serves delicious good value for money pub food but it is quite small so you need to be lucky to get a table or book in advance!

Ditsum has a very friendly community and does not just cater for yachties and second home owners. I take it that the comment below comes from a visitor to the village, making his comment completely nonsensical. The Ferry attracts the 'yachties' as it is at the bottom of the hill next to the pontoon, so it makes sense that people who have boats use the Ferry and the Anchor Stone. The food and staff are great at the Ferry and it has managed to stay a community pub for people from the village, Dartmouth and surrounds for many years. Even locals still marvel at the beauty of Ditsum. Ditsum welcomes Locals, visitors and yachties.

The main course prawn cocktail served here is a must for seafood lovers. They serve it knickerbocker glory style, and it is a delight. The pub itself is tiny, and ancient. Fun for a lunch, but we went back for an evening meal, and were less impressed, perhaps down to our menu choices.
