“Nice traditional country inn”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 27 May 2014

Hidden away in the picturesque village of Brendon on Exmoor, the Staghunters inn is well worth seeking out. Generous portions of well cooked food, great real ales from the Cotleigh & Exmoor breweries & proper old world charm that was most welcome at the end of a long wet days hiking along the scenic river Lyn valley. The Venison casserole was excellent. definitely worth heading off the beaten track to find this hidden gem.

“Great stay as always, can't wait for next visit”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 May 2014

We arrived early on Saturday morning and Richard told us we could use our rooms right away! After stowing all of our gear we hit the trail and got back early evening. Shower and bath were just what we needed, plenty of hot water to ease aching limbs. Straight downstairs for a couple of beers ... Cotleigh Tawny Owl was great! Sat down for dinner (under the antlers), plenty to eat, some more beer and up to bed ..... full as a butchers dog!
Great breakfast in the morning, another long trek and back to repeat the previous night. Richard and Wendy always make us feel welcome and we always leave, planning the next visit on the way home .... Lorraine, Hilary, Clive and Gary

“What a wonderful find!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 19 January 2014 via mobile

Just returned from a weekend at the Stag and what a lovely place! Our room was recently decorated and of a very high standard with a balcony overlooking the wonderful garden. We were made to feel very welcome including Chutney the BT. Dinner was good as was breakfast in the lovely dining room. We will definitely return to this gem!

“Good pub with good food”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 January 2014

Stayed at pub for 2 nights - in process of refurbishment which did not effect us at all - nice room which was clean with nice newly refurbished bathroom. Owners and staff very friendly and helpful. Food good portions very generous. Have previously been to this pub and would return again.

Dogs allowed in pub and can stay for small additional cost.
