Nick and Rachel give a really authentic warm welcome that last throughout the stay. Blair Lodge is a short stroll from the sea front - many rooms with great sea views. Clean and well presented, breakfasts were excellent - meticulous attention to detail means your stay is restful and stress free.

Just returned from a week's stay with Rachel and Nick. Blair Lodge is a wonderful base when visiting the area. The rooms are clean and comfortable and ok the en-suites aren't huge but then I dont expect Balmoral sized bathrooms at the very reasonable prices Rachel and Nick charge. The food is fantastic, home made and plentiful, nothing is too much trouble and Rachel will cater for any special dietary needs. If you want more , your plate will be replenished. Cant recommend this place highly enough. Its worth paying extra for a sea view.

We had a two night stay recently at Blair Lodge, this was a weekend away for my birthday, but was disappointing. The welcome we received was nice and friendly with a cup of tea and cake. Must admit when shown to our room we were disappointed - it was small for a double room and the ensuite was no more than a cupboard. Once in the shower, there was no turning round or bending down and you could sit on the toilet and wash at the same time, the sink was that close. We have stayed in much, much bigger rooms for a lot less money. £36 each per night we thought was a little high for the room - £30 would have been plenty. Breakfast was nicely cooked, although not huge, we have had bigger. The other guests staying there were fairly noisy and when in the bedroom you could hear them talking in the rooms below, which was a little frustrating when you come away for a quiet break. Also you could hear every movement from the room next door, from snoring to water running. It was ok for a couple of nights, but not what we really wanted from a B & B. Probably the area didn't help - Coombe Martin/Ilfracombe is not really a holiday area - OK if you like to walk, but nothing for families or children really. Two extremely small beach areas in Coombe Martin, a couple of shops (walked round the High Street shops in 5 minutes). There are two good eating restaurants, the best being the George & Dragon. The Pack o Cards was OK but service was bad. Would we return to the area/B&B - No, sorry not for us.

Room Tip: We had Room 4 - too small for a double room - ideal for a single bed. Nosiy, could hear everything...

I was walking the South West Coast Path by myself, and my stay at Blair Lodge was so wonderful, it was like having arrived at home. They gave me such a warm welcome with home made cake and tea, which was a real treat. I had dinner there with 3 other ladies who were staying and we were all agreed the food was excellent. I had a great night's sleep followed by a delicious breakfast - the home made marmalade was really exceptional. I set off in the morning feeling happy and well looked after. I would love to go back again.

Room Tip: My room had a view over the bay which was really lovely, though I can't remember my room number...

Nick and Rachel were so helpful when we visited Combe Martin recently. They were extremely friendly, very welcoming, provided super home cooked food and were very knowledgable about the area. My wife and I highly recommend Blair Lodge to anyone visiting the area.

We and our two French travelling companions, after exhausting visits to the Lost Gardens of Heligan and the Eden Project, found a real haven of rest and relaxation at Blair Lodge. the accommodation was all that could be hoped and the full English was particularly enticing for our friends!
Special mention for the delicious home made jams.
We are already planning our next visit.

Room Tip: Upgrade to sea view room is worthwhile.
