Firstly would like to thank Lynn the owner for her quick responses to questions asked ! On arrival at the cottage we were pleasantly surprised to find a welcome pack of jam, bread, butter, milk and doggy treats ( for the dog ,not us ) . Crown cottage is a very well equipped cottage even including a dog bowl . Location wise it is perfectly positioned for visiting local beauty spots , Tarr Steps, Watersmeet , lovely tearoom there ,and Periwinkle Tearooms , a definite must !! There were lovely walks from the cottage which is always a bonus when there is a dog ! The only slight negative is the garage located behind the cottage which was understandably noisy during the working day ,but as we were out most of the time this was not a problem !
Lovely cottage, very quaint. Beautiful surroundings, very friendly village. Fantastic walks from the cottage. Will definitely return.
We stayed at Crown Cottage in Exford for 4 nights with our two children and our whippet. The Cottage was beautiful, with everything you could wish for inside. The Owners very kindly left us a welcoming gift of bread, milk, butter and jam which was much appreciated after a long drive.
The village is beautiful with two lovely pubs/hotels serving fabulous food. There is a park across the road for the children, lovely walks for the dog and all within 20 mins of the beach.
A fantastic break, in a fantastic Cottage which I would highly recommend.
Just got back from a great visit at crown cottage. The location is brilliant for country walks, and is a short distance from Tarr Steps as well as many other local landmarks and great places to visit.
A pleasant place to visit for all walkers, photographers or even those wanting a bit of the quiet life.
There are 2 pubs/restaurants within 50yards both serving nice affordable food.
Crown cottage a very nice place to stay, a nice warm log fore for those cold nights and has all the amenities you'll need for a long weekend away.
Looking forward to my next visit here.
Had a excellent stay at crown cottage, really quiet and tranqual. The children loved sitting in the window seat watching the many horses go by. The green across the road was excellent for the children play on. Cottage perfectly situated for exploring the beauty of exmoor. The cottage was very clean and cosy. Had a superb stay will definitely be coming back.
Firstly, Lynn, the owner was super helpful in every way. We loved Exford, loved the cottage which was clean, cosy and very pretty. The only downside is that there is a garage right behind the cottage. This did make a lot of noise as there were engines running, a radio playing, general garage noise!
We were out most of the time in the wonderful area so it was ok. It did mean that we didn't sit outside with our wine because of the noise. All in all a nice cottage, but do be aware there is not complete tranquility.
Our arrival at Crown Cottage was lovely. A lovely welcoming package awaited us - which even included a surprise pack of dog biscuits with her name on it!
The cottage was spotlessly clean and tidy. Despite the bad weather we had a great time just switching off from all the normal stresses of life. Our evening meal was had each day at the Crown Hotel - and our dog was able to accompany us to eat in their bar. All in all, - a wonderful way of recharging our batteries! We will return.
