Perfect location for walks across the moors straight from the doorstep and for exploring the rest of the national park. Caroline's breakfasts are great , and she uses locally sourced organic ingredients. The rooms are well appointed and comfortable - we had a warm welcome on arrival and felt at home straight away. Holmdale is situated in the heart of Exford close to all ammenities and has breathtaking views across the surrounding countryside. We will definitely return.

We had a wonderful stay with Caroline and David and absolutely loved their immaculate and welcoming B&B. We stayed for 2 nights with our baby and our friends stayed in the next room. They made us feel right at home and met our every need. The breakfasts were outstanding. We would love to go back for a longer stay.

We'd visited Exmoor previously but wanted to stay more central for a change and searched online for a 'dog friendly' guesthouse. Caroline was welcoming and her puppy too! The room was charming and the view was lovely. Breakfast was relaxed in the conservatory and again with a lovely view. Caroline provided us with lots of local knowledge and was happy for us to come and go as we pleased. The village has 2 pubs with restaurants, both of which we enjoyed and it was central for visiting Dunster, Dulverton and Winsford with lots of lovely scenery in between....we'll definitely be going back.

We had two rooms like private hire, it was fantastic stay for 20-months old boy and three years old girl. Rooms and bathroom are high standard and we could feel that how Caroline makes effort to keep high standard.
We enjoyed home made bread every morning with nice coffee and tea.
Kids loved playing in the stream 15-min walk from B&B even after beach holiday.
There is Play ground just cross the road all pubs are useful for take away.

Firstly - what you see on the web is what you get. The rooms were lovely - the views were something else - it was just so relaxing. The garden is outstanding and it is in a lovely little village. We felt welcomed the minute we walked in the door and nothing was too much trouble. Caroline (who owns it) made our stay wonderful - we felt we had known her for ages, she has such personality and is definitely in the right job.. There are so many beautiful villages etc and Porlock and Lynmouth are great. We looked forward to our lovely breakfast every morning. We will definitely be going back for another stay. If you want a break away from it all - this is the place.

We stayed two nights at Holmdale. It's set on a hill overlooking Exford and the opposite side of the valley. The house is all beautifully decorated with rustic country charm, and lots of lovely furniture we really wanted to take with us! Our room had a widescreen TV and ensuite bathroom, which again was beautifully decorated.

Breakfast is taken in a very nice conservatory off the lovely country kitchen. We were fortunate enough to be the only guests on the gorgeous sunny April weekend, so had the conservatory to ourselves, with views over the surrounding countryside as we ate our hearty cooked breakfast, followed by lovely rustic toast!

The hosts are very friendly and helpful and responsive.

The local area is wonderful. We visited Tarr steps (go early like we did and avoid other tourists!) And then spent an hour or two exploring the unbelievably quaint village of Porlock, before playing on the moors with the Exmoor ponies.

For our two evenings in the area, we ate at the local White horse Inn on the first evening which provided a value bar snack, with warm atmosphere. Our second evening we ate at the Royal Oak in Withypool (there is more than one Royal Oak in the area) which had very nice food, if lacking the atmosphere as we had to sit in the restaurant, rather than the bar because of lack of space!)

The B&B was excellent value, and would highly recommend it to anyone, and if we're in the area again, would certainly stay there again.

This B&B is run very professionally but in a friendly and relaxed manner. Our dog was also made welcome in all parts of the house and garden. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice of local ingredients. Room was spotless and comfortable with a lovely view. There is a beautiful seating area on the galleried landing where guests can relax on the chaise longues beside the window.
The house is located on the edge of Exford which is a good village to use as a base for Exmoor and the coast. I would certainly recommend this B&B to couples and people who want to take their dog to Exmoor.
