Liked best: Perfect location for an outdoorsy style break
Liked least: Electric stove heater kicks out little heat - the old fire was much better. I am really searching hard to find a fault though!

Perfect cottage for Exmoor Adventures

Stayed here with some friends while taking part in a charity race across Exmoor. Turned out to be absolutely perfect for a couple of knackered, sweaty and muddy lads who completed a 30 mile cross country course and their wives who didn't race but wanted somewhere to relax while their hubbies were having some kind of mid-life crisis and re-living their Army days!
Tess, the owner, was very helpful from the outset in catering for our specific needs and booking was effortless (a good easy to navigate web-site which shows availability along with other useful information). Exford itself is really nice and you're well served by friendly local pubs (The Crown is literally across the road and serves some very good food and beer) and shops.
The cottage itself is perfect for 2 couples or a family of 4. Plenty of space for all and 2 seperate bath/shower rooms means no need for sharing. Very nicely decorated in a modern style with loads of comfy chairs in the roomy yet cosy lounge and a nice sized kitchen/dining room. Wi-fi comes from a BT Hub and worked very well (a surprise for somewhere so rural). What was really nice was the fact that all of the little things had been thought of. Standard stuff like all necessary utensils, cups (the Keep Calm and Carry On tea set was a nice touch!) tea towels etc were all there and yes, there was a welcoming pack of essentials in the fridge/cupboards - butter, bread, milk, sugar and tea bags (but many self catering cottages do this) but there were also bin bags, washing up liquid, paper kitchen towels, cleaning products and other stuff that meant that we didn't have to bring anything else except our clothes and enough sausage and bacon for a well deserved post race breakfast.
All in all the perfect base for someone who wishes to march 30 miles over the moors carrying 30lbs on your back or simply (and preferably) taking a relaxing break and exploring the beautiful Exmoor countryside.
We've already booked again for next year, and you can't get a much better recommendation than that tbh.
