Stopped here after a long weekend riding for a cream tea and pint, lovely staff, stunning building and a nice quiet beer garden to enjoy the scones overlooking the river, would definitely return either again with friends or with the other half.

What a find! Nestled by the river in Exford, this place is amazing. Food is delicious and at a reasonable price plus the local cider on tap is lovely to drink by the babbling river. We didn't stay at the Inn but it is in a perfect location for hiking and horse riding.

We have stayed at this hotel many times over the last 20 years and it has always been excellent. This year because we had two very large dogs in tow we decided to rent a cottage but spent every evening of our stay at the WH. Peter Hendrie and his staff are great, they recognised us and our food each evening was superb. I fell in love with the Exe gin and Peter assured me that we would be welcome to stay even with the two dogs.
It is so lovely that this hotel remains unchanged and yet equally has moved with the times. The friendliness and efficiency of Peter and his staff are absolutely second to none.

We enjoyed our trip, have been here many times always to the same high standard. Not to keen
on restaurant menu mange tow and carrots not very inventive. The staff are always very helpful and enjoy talking to them.

Room Tip: The cleaners left empty shower tubes in bathroom. No shower cap.

We came back to The White Horse after 18, years and if i told you it had not changed, do not think for one moment it is time locked, its just that it is still great. This time the ambience gave a feeling of comfort and friendliness from the first minute (last time there was scaffolding everywhere, new windows i believe) our rooms, although standard, were super comfortable , Bed was just so cosy, tea making was a chore as neither of us wanted to get up first. How nice is it to be roused by the clip clop of hooves , and whilst drinking that first cup of tea, watching hounds being exercised just across the river. The White Horse is a well run establishment, The staff are all so friendly and efficient without being pushy by the way, its a lovely place to visit and you can just be yourself. Food in both the Bar and Restaurant is excellent, we used both facilities and were delighted with both. Its a credit to the management team that the Hotel runs so well and its a giant thank you to cleaners/kitchen/bar/reception staff for making our visit so special.

Room Tip: we had a front top floor room and had no problems

And a "giant Thank You to you" for returning to visit us after all that time and for all your positive feedback, it really is much appreciated. Nothing gives us greater pleasure than welcoming back previous guests, however long the gap! We really hope we see you again and that it won't be quite so long next time!
