Huw and Sam continue to get even better. Nothing to fault but everything to praise. We will be back again soon. Food is superb and wine list is excellent. Rooms are clean and well appointed. Afternoon tea is a bonus. A shame they cannot fix the weather!

Room Tip: No pool or fitness centre Chichester in my view is excellent!

This was our first visit to the Old Rectory and it certainly won't be our last. From the moment we were greeted by Huw we felt instantly at home and started to wind down. The room was immaculate and very well furnished with a quality bed and the bathroom was large and complete with Molton Brown toiletries. Afternoon tea was served in the new Orangery which is a wonderful room looking out over the garden. The evening meals were chosen from a menu with three choices for each course and were incredibly well cooked and full of flavour with the emphasis being on local produce. Sam was a fine host for the evening and the staff were very polite and professional. The wine was another triumph with some unusual choices to be sampled from a fine list. After walking the coastal paths during the day the hotel was the perfect place to return to and relax. We felt very much at home during our stay even though it was our first visit, and will be returning very soon. The breakfasts were superb and chosen from a menu of very tasty alternatives. The whole place has an atmosphere of calm and relaxation with many places to sit and read or wander in the amazing garden. Huw and Sam were perfect hosts and made us feel very welcome in their wonderful hotel.

It is such a pleasure to receive such wonderful appreciation from our guests and we have shared your comments with the whole team. Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a full and generous review of your stay with us.

We were particularly delighted that you enjoyed our wine list and found some interesting ones to try. We are passionate about wine and prefer to keep our margins low so that our guests can try our wines at reasonable prices. There aren't many hotels where you get introduced to the owners and they cook all the food themselves and make you feel like one of the family.
We stayed in the 'Beeches' room for two nights. The room was spacious and beautifully furnished. The shower was extremely powerful and the complimentary Molton Brown toiletries added the finishing touch.
The newly added orangery overlooking the garden is a great place to sit and read in peace. The garden is beautiful with lots of places to sit outside and enjoy some quality time.
The food was amazing! Canapés with drinks before dinner followed by a four course menu that changes daily. Each night there is a choice of meat, fish or vegetarian. Everything is done on the premises even the breakfast marmalade - amazing considering the chef and part owner used to be a surveyor!
The hotel is down a quiet lane but is only a five minute walk to the coastal path. The Hunters Inn is a pleasant, not too strenuous, three mile walk away and should be done after the three course breakfast!
We had an excellent stay and hope to return soon.

It was a pleasure to meet you both last weekend and to have you here as our guests, particularly as you were celebrating such a special birthday!

Thank you for your very positive comments about your room and in particular the very powerful shower and the Molton Brown products. Really delighted that you enjoyed our food, which we source locally every day and for your lovely comments about the skills of our chef!

We look forward to seeing you again soon.

Huw and Sam effortlessly exude attentiveness without intrusiveness. But they combine this with an even rarer quality - anticipation of your needs.

I have been guilty as anyone of disparaging British cuisine.. I was delighted to have been proved wrong. The mushroom soup was outstanding. As was the carrot cake. And the... I will stop there but I am sure you get the idea.

Hi Sarah

We are really pleased that you took a few days out of your rather chaotic schedule to come and spend some time here for some rest and relaxation. Your review was really kind and we are delighted that we were able to prove that British Cuisine is alive and well in deepest, darkest Exmoor!

Thank you very much.
