“Superb, with lots of peace and quiet”
Reviewed 22 August 2014

Excellent food, excellent service, and very friendly. The room was very nice indeed, the location is ideal for a few days peace and quiet. Food - brilliantly done. Breakfast was good, and my only negative point was the fresh grapefruit. It was excellent, but the only fruit choice. (Why do hotels in the UK always have grapefruit, whilst the rest of the world is more varied?) Dinners were excellent without any quibbles at all. The wine list was very good, and reasonable in price.

Room Tip: All are equally fine - there are no views to choose or avoid....

Thank you all for a great time, everything was just as good as ever. Will return sometime in the spring of next year so make sure you have a good supply of rhubarb liquor and rose wine in. Especially for my wife!

Another lovely weekend at the Old Rectory, where the hotel goes from strength to strength. The increased power of the Wifi a real plus point. I really enjoyed coffee in the gorgeous Orangery and the chance to sit out in the garden, with the gurgle of the stream for company.

A fabulous five days away. A good location for walks, steam train and cycle rides and visiting gardens The room and bathroom were spotless and the food, particularly the soup and dessert, was heavenly. Hew and Sam made us feel as though we were guests in their home.

It was a great place to celebrate our Ruby Wedding anniversary. The atmosphere was relaxed, friendly but also very professional. The food in particular was excellent, using local produce. The hotel is set in beautiful gardens and on the edge of the SW coast walk for great walking.
