A wonderful relaxing 5 star retreat set in beautiful countryside on the edge of Exmoor.
The bedrooms are immaculate with comfortable super clean bed linen and lovely clean bathrooms .
The hotel is very tastefully decorated with plenty of space to relax and unwind.
Breakfast and dinner are a fine dining experience and the atmosphere is very attentive but not intrusive, both Huw and Sam are the perfect hosts and nothing is too much trouble .
We have stayed at the hotel twice in 6 months and fully intend to return during the next few months I would have no hesitation recommending the hotel to any of my friends .

We returned to the Old Rectory having spent our honeymoon there last year, surely it could not be so good again.........we were not disappointed. Huw and Sam,and not to forget Edie, were brilliant hosts yet again. There have been some tasteful improvements to the rooms and the standards of service and food were the highest you could expect. This hotel is in the quietist spot to get away from it all with its beautiful gardens and the surrounding stunning scenery. We will be back !

Great place for a quiet weekend. Huw and Sam and their staff were excellent. Friendly and helpful without being intrusive. Huw is an amazing chef and Sam certainly knows his wines. Beautiful location with plenty of walks, we felt so relaxed after our 3 day stay, we didn't want to leave. Would thoroughly recommend staying at the Old Rectory!

Thanks must go to Huw and Sam for a wonderful stay with them for a long weekend of walking with my mother inlaw. We opted for one of the suites which was lovely and had amazing views of the garden. Dinner and breakfast was a delight every day we stayed. The service and company of Huw and Sam is what really makes this a special find. Well done both for an exceptional hotel.

This hotel is truly special. We cannot praise it highly enough ! It offered everything one would expect from a first class hotel whilst at the same time giving you the feeling you were more than just a guest. The owners , Sam and Hugh, were delightful hosts who combined impeccable professionalism with a most friendly and entertaining manner.
Dinner each evening can only be described as fine dining ( the scallops were the very best ! ) and the dining room itself was as elegant as the two drawing rooms. The soups served each night were also memorable - wild mushroom and watercress were very special. The Exmoor breakfast kept us going all day !
The gardens of the hotel are beautiful and so peaceful as is the surrounding countryside - no crowds, no traffic just birdsong and the sound of the sea.
Do visit this very special place - you won't be disappointed in any way.
