“Tranquil and relaxing”

I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Heddon's Gate. Mark and Pat were friendly and accommodating, especially regarding food choices for particular needs. Nothing was too much trouble and all of the food I had at the hotel was delicious. The room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. The views from our bedroom were amazing, the hotel is set in a truly beautiful area. There were plenty of communal rooms, including a bar area, where you could relax with a book. I can find nothing to fault with this hotel, and I wouldn't hesitate to return.

Just experienced a wonderful weekend in this beautifully renovated hotel. The grounds and location are stunning; the view from our enormous window was fabulous. We were a large family group, age range 14-70+, but everyone loved their stay. We spent time walking the coastal path, exploring the grounds of the hotel with the very friendly dogs and playing games in front of the fire on a wet afternoon. My teenage sons also particularly appreciated the large flat screen TV on which to watch Match of the Day. Mark and Pat were really friendly and helpful and cooked delicious three course meals and full English breakfasts; providing for all sorts of dietary needs. We would thoroughly recommend this hotel.

We're very glad that Heddon's Gate kept all the family happy, especially when Easter Sunday's rain brought you all back for that epic game of Monopoly! Hopefully you'll all be back again - thanks very much for your review .

Stayed for 3 nights over the Easter Weekend, and had a fantastic visit. Went with a large family group and there was a great variety of communal rooms, a lounge, a tv room, a bar and a reading room, so there was plenty of opportunities to get away from the rest of the family. I stayed in the Beech room, which was beautifully furnished and had fantastic views out over the hills. There was plenty to do in the local area, with a pub at the end of the road and a couple of local touristy towns, plus the Coastal Path was only about a mile away. Would highly recommend the hotel, especially as the owners, Mark and Pat, are extremely helpful and friendly and lay on fantastic breakfasts and dinners.

Thanks a lot for your review . We're very pleased that the many downstairs rooms were used that weekend - we hope that the rest of the family didn't miss you too much and that you get included again next time.

Heddons Gate Hotel is delightfully secluded just up the hill from the Hunters Inn, and a wonderful 20 minute stream side walk from the South West Coastal path. The new owners have painstakingly restored this wonderful hotel, and offer generous hospitality.

The children enjoyed foraging in the woods in the grounds of the hotel, and walking out onto Exmoor just metres from the hotel. The well stocked and secluded gardens are a welcome haven, and the views across Exmoor and towards the sea are simply stunning. We would highly recommend this hotel.

The walk alongside the River Heddon to Heddon's Mouth is one of our favourites too. Your children made the most of the paths around the hotel - we have since discovered other paths which have been overgrown for years and we're hoping to open them up as well. Thanks very much for bringing your family (children & parents) to the Heddon Valley. We hope to see you all again soon.

Fabulous rooms, delicious food, and perfect hospitality in every way. The hotel was full of runners for the Coastal Trail event and Mark and Pat laid on breakfast from 6.30am and hot soup and showers on return, even for guests like me who were unable to stay on for the night after the event. It's a beautiful spot and it's a real gem of a hotel. Thoroughly recommended.

Very pleased that you were so happy with your stay here. It was only one night but at least you managed a walk down to the sea at Heddon's Mouth before the taxi took you back to Barnstaple railway station. We hope that you'll make a return visit. The train from Paddington to Tiverton Parkway takes just over 2 hours (instead of the 4+ hours to Barnstaple via Exeter) . I will write to the organisers of Endurance Life to include some train tips for next year's event.
Many thanks for your review.
