Despite refurbishments taking place around the hotel, we were made to feel most welcome.
Lunch was very good - the steak and ale pie being quite a challenge !
We needed help with a forthcoming party visit and nothing was too much trouble for the proprietor who was most helpful. We look forward to our return next month.

Lovely room with masses of space and very friendly staff in this remote part of Somerset. Warm, clean, comfortable and homely with very pretty bedroom furnishings. As a walker I felt very welcome and the evening meal was as hearty and delicious as I could wish.

We have just had three nights at the Exmoor Forest Inn - excellent stay in every way. Lovely room, very comfortable and warm. Beautifully presented breakfast with no request too much trouble. The owners are delightful, food was perfect and good value overall for the entire stay.
Will return again one day and have no hesitation in recommending this Inn.

We had a wonderful 3 day stay at the Exmoor Forest Inn. So Tranquil .The breakfast was excellent and there was a good choice. The restaurant and bar we found very good as well. The location was good for exploring the Exmoor National Park with walks from the hotel.

This was our second stay here. We love the food, room and hosts are very welcoming. We are small family and our room was equipped to our needs as well as we received friendly service while our little one wasn't very patient sitting in a high chair during lunch or dinner. Very clean and comfy room.
Lovely area and some breathtaking views and plenty to explore.
Can't say anything negative about this place. Highly recommended.
We're already planning to come back again :)

Room Tip: Room 8 on a top floor is large and bright. Loads of storage. Ideal for small family.

We spent the night with fellow choristers of the Pontypridd male voice choir following a concert in the local church.
We had a great night enjoyed the room and full breakfast will definitely stay again.

First of all, I say it like i find it when I write a report.

This was our first experience of this country pub, where we had an overnight stay while travelling through the Exmoor region. Our room was spacious with a comfortable bed. For the evening meal we were expecting a specials board in addition to the printed menu, as advertised, but this was not available and there was only a limited choice of food. Unfortunately there was a problem with the soup we ordered and this had to be rejected. The main courses were good, as were the one dessert which was ordered. The cooked breakfast we had in the morning was good.

For us, it goes without saying that animals should not be allowed in a dining area (for obvious reasons of hygiene). However numerous times we had to request that the pub owner's dogs, which kept coming round our feet, be removed while we were dining in the evening. When we were leaving the following morning, my wife was very nearly tripped up on the stairs by the pub's dogs rushing past her. I would have expected the pub owner to recognise that there had nearly been a nasty accident and to have offered profuse apologies; however he clearly didn't see any problem, and merely explained that the dogs were being let out. I was only thankful no one had fallen down the stairs. Once outside, the dogs ran straight across the road in front of oncoming vehicles which had to brake hard to avoid them.

I am sure that many people are not bothered by dogs, and positively like them. However it must be understood by hotel/restaurant proprietors that not everyone likes animals, particularly when they are given freedom to roam around premises as they please.
