We have just returned from a most enjoyable holiday this hotel. The reception and allocating of rooms was both slick and very professional.

Our bedroom was very, very clean, bright and very welcoming .Everyone was intent on making our holiday memorable and enjoyable.

I must mention to the exemplary service given by our waitress, Tatiana. Had a wonderful holiday which will be remembered for a long time for all the right reasons.

My husband and I travelled with G-Line Coaches from Blackpool. The coach service was excellent and the driver, Terry was brilliant. We stayed for one week at the Cavendish and the food was good. The hotel generally needs updating, it is shabby throughout and much inferior by modern day standards. Our room was clean but dark and dreary. Nothing was co-ordinated; the curtains and bedspread did match but these were dark and looked very old. The furniture was drab. The TV was very small and old. The room looked uninviting. The wall lights were very dated and we considered them unsafe. We mentioned this and a new light fitting was fitted. The shower unit wasn't really adequate. Everything in the room was dated, it was like being in the 1950's. The bar/lounge had a sea view but was very basic, again the furniture was dated and we did not enjoy sitting in such a miserable lounge. The entertainment was ok but nothing special. The manager told us that our room had been refurbished - it hadn't see a lick of paint nor fresh wallpaper for years. We consider it wasn't worthy of a two star hotel. We had coffee in a couple of two star hotels in the area and found them far superior. We would not wish to stay at the Cavendish again nor would we recommend it.

Do go, if your tour operator has the Cavendish on its itinerary. Young but tough manager Lisa runs a fine hotel, with a lot of attention to detail. Chef is terrific - Head Office basic menus, but with flair and his little special touches. Waiting staff trained to high level, and they're lovely young people, from all over Europe.

Location perfect (sea front).

Hotel not wired (whatever the Web might say) but who cares? There's a full-sized snooker table in the games room. Beats Facebook any day.

My husband and I were taken by Alpha Travel to the Cavendish Hotel despite Norovirus being a problem to the hotel throughout April. Having contracted the infection along with many other guests we were unable to enjoy any of the facilities the hotel had to offer. Therefore, our holiday at the Cavendish Hotel was a complete disaster one which Alpha travel will take no responsibility what so ever for!!

The worst hotel and the worst treatment we have ever experienced. We stayed in the summer of 2008 whilst attending a work function. The first night and breakfast passed without incident though we felt it was very tired and shabby and over priced. It was also clearly a hotel for the older generation. The service was basic.
The final night of our stay we had to inform the receptionist that that we would be back from our business function after midnight as they lock the outside door. The receptionist wrote this information and left it for the night porter. Low and behold when we returned by taxi after midnight nobody was there to let us in! We knocked and rang the reception over and over for around 20 minutes but there was no sign of the so called night porter! In the end we were forced to give up and our taxi took us back to my partners work where we had no choice but to spend the night without any of our belongings! The taxi driver wrote us a receipt as I was determined to get the cash refunded.
The next morning we phoned at seven to explain only to be called a liar by the receptionist who refused to believe we couldn't get in! We returned very angry and immediately asked for a manager to make a complaint, only to be told there was no one there and that we would have to write our complaint and send it of to the address he then handed us! Couldn't get over the rudeness and total lack of care when we had paid for a room we couldn't sleep in or a breakfast we didn't get to eat.
To add further insult when I wrote a letter of complaint to the head office my reply was unacceptably rude. They also refused to believe we couldn't get in saying there porter had worked there for years and is cleaning all night, ( he had I suggest fallen asleep as there were no lights on), they asked why if we had been banging on the door why no other guests complained or let us in ( I suggest as they were all elderly they didn't hear), they refused to believe the price of the taxi ( I had a receipt ) and worse of all they asked why I hadn't rang the friends we checked in with to come and open the door ( they had switched there phones off, and why on earth should they have to be disturbed when asleep anyway )!! I have never had to deal with a bunch of such unprofessional people in my life. We had an important weekend ruined, spent a fortune on nothing and then were called liars. Never ever stay at this hotel or stay at any others run by the same company.

I went to the Cavendish on a self drive Alfa holiday. When I arrived with my son and two eighty plus year old relatives I was greeted by the manager Lisa who was very helpful. She found a member of her staff to carry in our cases and show my elderley relatives to their rooms while I checked in. The food was good and it was good that we always sat on our own appointed table. The staff were all very friendly and helpfuland couldn't do enough to help us. The entertainment was excellent especially the singer/comedian called Paul Cobley who we had seen on a previous visit to the Cavendish. I would definetly go on holiday to the Cavendish Hotel again
