We visited World of Country yesterday (31st July) we where part of a group. My 5 and half month old son had a wonderful time, its a fab place for families, loads to see and do, and a lot of great kiddie attractions. We loved the Train ride it was wonderful and the country world Staff where lovely and very helpful, we especially loved feeding the deer. I want to go back with my hubby (who was in work) and take our little boy again when he is a bit older.
A word of advice to anyone visiting this wonderful place, I would take a packed lunch. We had a train ride booked for 1.45 pm so decided to go to the cafe for lunch at 12.30 ( 1 x hour is enough time normally for a sandwich) we got shown to our table, it was quiet busy but there where still plenty of tables. We sat down and looked at the menu, and decided what we wanted, then we waited and waited (waitress service) by now it was 12.50 we where getting worried as we had the train ride pre booked with our group. We asked to get served and the young girl , who was very flustered said she would be right over. Just as she was about to come over the manager ( I think she was she was quite young though) ordered the young girl to clear tables and she just left us. It was now 1 pm. We where starving and just couldnt wait any longer, so had to get up and go around to the takeaway counter (I've never had to do that before ), we got a sausage roll each ( I had wanted a Jacket potato so was very disappointed). To top it all when we got up to leave the manager just looked at us and she knew we had not been served, we didn't even get an apology.
I used to be a waitress many years ago, if a customer complains you deal with it there and then you cant just leave them and for them to let us leave with out an apology is awful. I wouldn't normally complain about a place but this was my little boys day and it spoilt what would have been a fantastic day out.
If anyone wants to go to World of Country its an amazing place and well worth a visit but either get a takeaway from the hatch (great service there and in the ice cream area ) or take a picnic ( plenty of picnic tables) as the service is appalling in the cafe, ( I see other people have complained too) We have visited alot of much busier places and been served in the children's holidays. Such a shame. But we shall be back with a picnic next time, you live and learn :)
