We bought a holiday home in Exmouth in March2011 and pop down most weekends when we can. It always seems to be sunny and relaxed in Exmouth!
Have visited several times to Franklin's recently. The restaurant is upstairs from the bar very nicely presented, intimate and is always full and service is attentive. They do an amazing deal of two courses for £10 on Thursday to Sunday evenings. Book ahead to avoid disapointment, or turn up early If you can't be bothered to cook like us.
Can't fault this place, for the price and quality of food this is the best overall restaurant in Exmouth. One of our favourites, you will not be disapointed.

I was rather wary about going here as we'd had a dreadful meal at a nearby Chinese the night before, and when we were greeted by the barman to say the restaurant was unavoidably closed, I was rather disappointed. However, I couldn't have been more wrong. There was a good range of lagers on and there was a promotion on for cocktails. Although the restaurant was closed we were offered the full menu in the bar, and able to pay bar prices too, which was a bonus. The food arrived freshly cooked and was delicious, and the bar staff were very attentive but not overbearing. The background music was pleasant, however the following night there was a guest saxophonist playing and as we walked past we noticed how full the bar was, the quality of the music that night was excellent. Due to the lateness of our arrival we didn't have a starter but decided to have a dessert, and shared a cheese platter, which was varied and fresh. We stayed until the pub closed and would most definitely go back again, if only we lived a lot nearer than we do, we will put it on our list next time we're back in Exmouth.

Hadn't actually planned to go to Franklins, but the place we were going had stopped serving food.
Although we arrived at nearly 9pm & the restaurant section was closed we received a very warm & friendly welcome from the staff. We were offered a place in the bar section where we could order & eat from the full menu. Food arrived quickly & the presentation & taste were both first class, the overall setting is also an added bonus as it's a very relaxed atmosphere for dining or just enjoying a drink.
Ordering desserts, as time was against us, the were only a couple of items available. The staff were very apologetic about this but was fully understandable as by the time we had got round to puddings it was past 10pm.
We were offered cheese & biscuits.....a portion arrived which could have been for 4 people rather than just the two of us.

Overall Franklins was a delight to visit, & after our rather disappointing visit to Bamboo a few doors away the evening before, shows that excellent service is still available.

We visited franklins on a sunday afternoon and were immediately greeted by a very friendly member of staff who helped us to move a table into the sun and brought us a menu. The place itself is situated in the cafe quarter and as well as inside seating it has a few outside tables too. We had our dog with us and they were very accommodating bringing water for him without us having to ask. Dogs are also allowed inside. We just shared a pannini but it was very tasty, served with chips and salad. The best part of the visit was the service, I think it was the owner who served us and chatted with us but she was lovely and it makes all the difference! We would come back if it wasn't so far from home!
